Zach Snyder remaking Escape from New York

Not a completely horrible idea. Snyder has a gift for imagery, but sucks as a writer. While Kurt Russell's performance was iconic, the original movie doesn't hold up all that great on rewatch nowadays. That said, recasting that role will be a challenge.

There has to be more graphic novels out there he can adapt frame by frame like 300 and Watchmen. Those are easily his best movies. Even in those, the stuff he came up with on his own are the worst parts.
