It may be a good movie but it cannot take place in raccoon City during the events of RE2.

Re2 takes place in the late summer time, theres never been any snow in raccoon City in and around the events of re 1,2,3 in fact everyone is dressed for summer.

Saw an interview where he said he played RE4 the most and had some Easter eggs in the trailer for RE4. Not familiar enough with the games to say for sure but that may be the time frame instead of RE2

did not like Weapons

I didn't love it but the ending made it worth it. This looks more like Barbarians than Weapons

Guy on Reddit read the widely circulated script that leaked several months ago and says the teaser lines up with it. He spoils the shite out of everything in the post, but here are non-spoilers for fans of the games:

quote:

Set during the events of Resident Evil 2, 3 and Outbreak

Not set during the 90s, modern day timeline retcon

Zombies are not the T-Virus reanimated shambling, torn apart wounds grotesque Romero types but are instead something akin to John Carpenters The Thing and runners.

There are no Monsters we know from the games in it. No hunters, lickers, tyrants, plants, spiders, etc.

Everything further is 100% spoiler territory, but if you're interested: LINK

I saw that leaked script and it has nothing to do with Resident Evil. It's amazing how many times they've adapted this series and used nothing from the games. Hollywood still refuses to take video games seriously for the most part.

It's not going to adapt anything from the games, it's just capturing the vibe of RE

quote:

So the world of [Resident Evil] 2 is kind of where this takes place, even though I’d make a couple of little shifts for dramatic license. It’s just following a different person who’s on a mission in this horrible night when things are going wrong in Raccoon City, and they’ve got to get something from point A to point B. And as they go, they encounter all of the same sorts of things you would encounter in the games. I wanted to keep true to like [in the games], you start with a pistol, you graduate to a shotgun, and then eventually you find an MP5. You’re always worried about how many bullets you have, and you’re getting injured and all those things. So it was such a fun challenge for me to try and write a game as a movie.

He's a good filmmaker. I'm confident it will be a well made movie

This looks just like my style of horror movie and I love that it's some regular dude being dropped into chaos and not some STARS elite soldier. Inject this right into my veins.

Someone mentioned how it would be cool if it was from the point of view from a NPC who ends up dying at the end but leaves all the notes around like in the game and at the end Leon and Claire would find him dead. The next movie would be them finding all his letter and clues and what not.

I like the idea of having a side story in this resident evil 2 universe. The problem is it doesn't feel like raccoon city in the trailer. Why is it snowing? Is he holding a cell phone in that one scene when it's supposed to be 1998.

Then I have no reason to see this. I'm not a horror movie fan. I'm just a resident evil fan as a kid in the 90's. That's good to know seeing as I would have seen this in the theatre.

Same. Really looks to have potential.
