In Bruges - black comedy that never got funny

Fight Club - 2edgy4me

The second two LOTR movies - too many changes to the pacing of the story for me to enjoy and way too fricking long

I’d say hate is too strong for me, but movies I didn’t like:

Dances With Wolves
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
any Spider-Man
any of the Star Wars after Empire
Scarface
Sound of Music
Animal House ( other than a few quotable parts)

Lucky Number sleven
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
The Life Aquatic (not really terrible, but I definitely didn’t find it very funny)
Frozen

Got to throw in basically Woody Allen’s entire filmography. He’s been nominated 16 times for Best Original Screenplay, 10 more than the next closest one. What a load of shite.

I think Citizen Kane suffers from the fact that everyone who has seen it for the first time in the last few decades already knows the ending thanks to the internet and it showing up #1 on every greatest movies poll. Given the entire premise of the movie is figuring out what "Rosebud" means, it kinda takes the suspense and ultimate emotional payoff away if you know it before hand.

It's like knowing the ending of Seven or The Usual Suspects. Yeah they're well made movies, but the final reveal is what makes them legendary.

I didn’t know about it the first time I watched it, and I really don’t think it hurts the film at all knowing about it. The only thing that could possibly make sense even if it wasn’t revealed would be something that returned him to childhood innocence. It pretty much openly shows itself near the beginning with the “Everything you hate” comment Kane made. Rosebud is merely a catalyst just to get the plot going, not some great twist.

Titanic (was yelling sink already in the theater), The Force Awakens, Inglorious Basterds (why did they misspell bastards?), Sideways (boring).

Babel. It was nominated for a bunch of Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It sucked balls.

Citizen Kane is famous mainly for reasons other than the actual story being told, which means that most people who see it (outside of a film studies class) are going to come away wondering why it’s considered one of the greatest movies ever.

Citizen Kane obviously is revered because of how it changed cinema.

And people were astonished that Welles made it at the age of 25.

He produced, directed, acted and wrote the movie.

He invented deep focus, cameras going through objects, myriad of unique angles and revolutionized the use of sound.
