What's a movie that people love and had good reviews that you find horrible?

I'm gonna go with hurt locker.

I did not think I would like Silver Linings Playbook...but, I really did.

I hate Avatar and Titanic.

I have never made it through The English Patient.

I hate Rocky Horror Picture Show...not sure if it is considered good...but seems like a lot of people like it.

Surely there was something else that made you not like that movie.

My answer is Mother! Somewhere in the world one person liked that movie, and that makes it overrated.

Not my most hated movie by any stretch, but The Exorcist probably has the biggest gap with regards to personal enjoyment vs critical acclaim for me.

I don't know if it's just simply because I was not of the generation that initially saw it on the big screen but I can't get into it at all. The effects have aged horribly, the dialogue is meh and it all just seems a bit campy. To me it's just a dated version of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose", which was ok but nothing special. The Omen is a much better horror flick from that era of horror IMO.

"Citizen Kane," easily.

I don't hate it, but "The Deer Hunter" bored the frick out of me in any scenes where Walken wasn't playing with guns.

There's a third that I'm just sick of hearing about, but naming it would completely derail this thread as really pissed-off fans descended to yell at me for not liking something they like.

I think Citizen Kane suffers from the fact that everyone who has seen it for the first time in the last few decades already knows the ending thanks to the internet and it showing up #1 on every greatest movies poll. Given the entire premise of the movie is figuring out what "Rosebud" means, it kinda takes the suspense and ultimate emotional payoff away if you know it before hand.

It's like knowing the ending of Seven or The Usual Suspects. Yeah they're well made movies, but the final reveal is what makes them legendary.

I don't hate them, but the movies that I could never get on board the hype train for were the Nolan Batman movies. I'm not sure why. They just never clicked with me.
