yeah, that bar scene was comical in a laugh at not with way. So, she just knew from looking the guy went to Penn St. and blew a dude on a trip to Europe and whatever else she mind read, must have cause he didn't deny it.
It was a rip off of the bar scene in “Good Will Hunting”

Yeah, the reading someone upon first meeting them is an often used formula,
you see it also in Casino Royale and other films and shows, it's nothing new, and has even been used before by Beth, but I've never seen it less believable.
I almost wish the guy had said, well none of what you said is even close to true but you sure said that with confidence bitch, I'll give you that.

You'd think they would have a good civil case against the multi billion dollar corporation that just murdered their father to advance their financial position.
Instead, they are going to give away the ranch and pretend it's a victory.

Even my wife has finally switched over to hate watching this show.
It's comically bad. I mean... the actual land/murder plot isn't bad. It's fine. It could be interesting. But they refuse to actually focus on that, instead indulging in they narcissistic cowboy fetish of the show's creator.
Highlight of that episode was Turnpike Troubadours playing two songs... but I lost a little respect for them as well.

In the first 4 seasons, how many musical interludes were there compared to how many have happened in season 5? It's just filler material so TS doesn't have to write. I mean, have you seen him ride? He probably doesn't have time to write since he's riding all the time.

Shane Smith was the main one I remember from the first few seasons, because it was how I discovered him.
And yeah... dude must ride horses and pump iron like 8 hours a day
Like... I don't think that character is too far from his real life aspirations.

Say it with me.
Taylor. Sheridan. Can’t. Finish.
Can’t finish a story line.
Can’t finish a series.
The beginning had good motion but he’s lost it. Now we’re just waiting for it to be over.

I am struggling to think of a a show that had so much potential, was so widely well regarded, and just burned itself to the ground.
As bad as this is, Games of Thrones had a worse decline.

No. This is worse than GOT.

Not going back to catch up on 20 pages I missed, but Kasey asked a great question that surprised Beth at the end. My question is why did it surprise her as she has a savvy business sense and why was the Ranch not already an LLC or S Corp. As they said and all of us on the OT know, people die but Corps live forever.

Taylor Sheridan probably doesn’t even know what an LLC is.
This episode was absolute dog shite. No other way to put it. It was so bad it had to be on purpose.
I am imagining Sheridan feverishly beating his meat to the thought of Costner watching this episode when it aired. Seriously.

I'm not far off of this and I have been a fan of how they didn't drag out John's cause of death or Kacey being able to figure out most of the murder. Sure, some of it was written poorly, but I was entertained and curious as to how that would unfold, in particular.
Could have totally done without the Sheridan suck fest (new name for the episode).

Got to it last night.. and I'm glad someone else felt this way.
But we did get Beth berating some Ivy Leaguer, a Jimmy background shot, and Tate dropping a one liner to remind us he's still alive. And lots of cowboys being cowboys.

Everything that has been said in this thread about this show is pretty much true, but I busted out laughing a few times this episode with some of the one-liners. "The corn dogs were real. I'm going to get them right now." I lost it there. When Beth was talking to that normal cowboy by the pool, a few good ones there too.
Any person even a fraction of John Dutton's stature has an estate and succession plan at all times. The whole auctioning off everything to save the ranch is just stupid. The Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in the real world would be the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch LLC. The entire concept that he would die without his affairs in order to cover not only the succession but the any sort of taxes that go along with it is laughable.
The ranch has been if the family for generations. They didn't need to sell it off to pay the taxes before. How the hell did John Dutton even get it, if that's the case? No, this is major plot issue.
I'll finish out this season but this needs to be over.
ETA:
Casey - I don't have any money.
Beth - You have $30 million.
What the frick? Poor Casey.

because they're all SEALs.
so it's basically a small closed loop they're all a part of.
There was zero chance they were going after Kasey's family, and Kasey broke a spoken rule of no going after the children. IRL he would have just put a target on his back that wasn't there before.
The writing in this episode is just bizarre.

Beth still owns 300 million in land that she retained when she sold her share of Swartz and Myer to "Bob" in S-5 ep 3 "Tall Drink of Water". She has enough land for her and Rip to start their own spinoff with a new ranch

No desire to watch.
I’d watch a Kayce spinoff or a Jamie one.
Also, does this show completely disregard that Rip has murdered several people and is really a villain?
