Bay makes popcorn flicks with no socially redeeming value. Burton makes films that requires psychotropic drug use to appreciate. They both suck in my opinion but Burton sucks harder.

Both don't suck for sure, but each is streaky is his own way.

Bay has some truly fun movies like Bad Boys, he brushes up great with The Island, and he makes guilty pleasures like Armageddon.

I have no problem admitting that I like Bay.

Tim Burton's problem, he's extremely one dimensional in his approach (Bay is the same in that regard). But it's odd coming from a director that obviously has creative vision. 2 Best Things he did: Big Fish and Nightmare Before Christmas

I personally think Michael Bay is one of the worst dialog writers in the history of popular cinema.

The Rock is actually the only film of his I've ever enjoyed.

Transformers was almost there for me... I think a weak Zimmer score, Shia Lebeouf's obnoxious appearance and disposition, and Megan Fox's disengaged behavior killed it for me.

You mean not distinctive or he's made so many the visuals don't have the same impact? Usually when you see a trailer for a Burton move you know who's work it is. And I'm not saying Burton is awesome, just that he brings more to the table than Bay.

I had to check IMDB to make sure I was right, but yeah even according to that, Bay has 0 writing credits.

I really don't get all the animosity directed at Bay all the time. Sometimes people just wanna see shite get blown up and look cool w/o being mentally stimulated. There's plenty of stuff out there to appeal to your more high-brow instincts.

This. Bay does not hide behind some greater purpose, and then not come through. Bay never says, "I will change the world," or "I will show America what it is really like," or anything of the sort.

I like Bay particularly because he is honest.

I'm still angry at Burton for fricking up Willy Wonka and taking the perfectly sarcastic Gene Wilder and making him into the creepy, effeminate weirdo Johnny Depp. And I don't wanna hear about how the book was meant to be dark like Burton's. There's a reason why authors are authors and screenwriters are screenwriters.

Okay, one of the worst dialog directors.

I didn't realize he didn't write the screenplays.

I'm also surprised to learn that the same guy who wrote Braveheart wrote Pearl Harbor.

Hollywood has reasons that reason knows nothing of.

I'm gonna go ahead and say Micheal Bay, James Cameron, Shamalayn, and then Burton.

IMO Burton is one of the best directors of this era.

nightmare before christmas was one of the best movies ever made and I liked most of his other films as well.

Burton uses his imagination and watching his movies is like watching a lucid dream.

michael bay just blows shite up.

Bay is what he is...a popcorn film director.

Burton seems like he wants to be an arthouse director with a hollywood budget. Sweeny Todd?? Charlie and the chocalate factory?? GTFO with that shite.

And when he tries to go the big budget action movie we get the abortion of a remake that is Planet of the Apes.

Even in that movie he still couldn't resist casting his wife.

I mean look at this list

Alice in Wonderland
Sweeny Todd
Charlie and the Chocalate Factory
Planet of the Apes
Sleepy Hollow

frick Tim Burton!! Stop trying to put your bad lighting visuals on classic shite

ETA and stop casting your wife in every project you do. I'm tired of looking at her scary arse face

I forgot about Sweeney Todd... One of the few movies I've pulled out of the DVD player and not finish watching it...
Awful, Awful movie
