Indeed. The MCU must always be placed on a pedestal because it reigns supreme. Never mind the fact that Phase 3 of the MCU has been mediocre to say the least. Of the three films released so far (Civil War, Dr. Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), I haven't particularly cared for any of them. Ant-Man was the last good film in the MCU.

Is that with inflation?
No. But inflation still doesn't put the MCU's early movies over the DCEU's early movie numbers.

Yeah, you can make a movie with a feminist viewpoint and still make it good. In Ghostbusters all the men were either idiots, assholes, or complete douchebags. That wasn't a feminist movie: it was a pure line sexist "frick men and all of them are awful" movie.
Wonder Woman though had a great supporting cast of likable guys who did something good. They were flawed, sure, but very redeemable. I never felt insulted while watching the movie while I felt this constantly in Ghostbusters.

Yep. That's what one says when they make hundreds of millions selling shite stocks.

Huh? Strange had some amazing visuals and a truly unique ending. And GotG2 was simply amazing. I loved that movie. Civil War was underwhelming, but to say Phrase 3 hasn't been good is being too harsh.

Doctor Strange basically utilized the same visual effects that Inception pioneered six years earlier. And if by unique you mean the main antagonist decided not to destroy the earth because Strange annoyed him to the point of exasperation, then yes, you are correct.

Ok I'll give you the early ones but what would Captain America and iron man 2's totals be if adjusted for inflation?
Posted on 6/4/17 at 6:27 pm to jeff5891
He's right.
CW was way overrated (but, bright shiny uniforms!). The entire GotG arc is cheesy dreck. I'm not a big fan of the introduction of the whole magic/supernatural element into the comic/superhero world but I think the movie was done well. Just not my cup of tea.

Captain America
Captain America, when adjusted for inflation prices of today, made right at $400 million worldwide. Wonder Woman will more than likely surpass that number here in the next week or two.

iron man 2
Iron Man 2, when adjusted for inflation prices of today, made $699 million worldwide. Which is still less than what Suicide Squad made ($745 million).

Are you really trying to compare the popularity of iron man vs superman? And hulk vs superman and batman combined???

Uh...yeah, I am. There is a difference between the most recognizable superhero and most popular superhero. In 2013, the two most popular superheroes in all of fandom were easily Iron Man and Batman. Iron Man 3 had just come out a month before the release of Man of Steel and made over a billion dollars at the box office.
Superman Returns had been the last Superman film to be released at that point in time and it was a box office disappointment.

You have a point right there. I was merely measuring these films by the order in which they were released. Batman v. Superman was the second DCEU film and The Incredible Hulk was the second MCU film.

This seems to depend upon how comfortable one is in their masculinity and/or one's allegiance to Marvel movies, but it appears to be a bona fide critical and commercial hit.
I liked it but it had nothing to do with this bullshite.

Then you're still participating in incredible false equivalencies. Iron Man was by no means the most popular superhero when his movie came out. It was nothing more than a pleasant surprise. You're talking shite.

Your OP is comparing them from 2008, not 2013. What you're saying blatantly dishonest.

Probably because he didn't present Superman with any physical challenges and turned him into a pedophile.

And yet the film made close to $100 million on opening weekend - more than any Superman or Batman film before it.
And Superman was hardly a popular movie property at that time. There hadn't been a successful Superman film at the box office since Superman II in 1981.

My OP is merely comparing the films in the order in which they were released. At the beginning of 2008, audiences were probably just as interested in Iron Man as they were with Superman.

Good word of mouth telling people that it's a good movie and people should go see it.
