I'm just trying to figure out why a white dude named Max Lord speaks spanglish.
The investor guy says his real name, which was Latino, and they show him as a little kid getting made fun of for being Latino. How do ya'll miss such obvious stuff?

Just another layer of pointless details.
Good god this movie was cynical af. Really makes the “resolution” of the film even more jarring.

So now Spiderman is Iron Man, and Wonder Woman is both Spiderman and Superman. Got it.
Worst superhero movie by far. Best part was the after-credits scene.

I’m talking about Kristen Wiig, bro.
They tried to “not another teen movie” her and I wasn’t buying it.

Someone spoil the after credits scene for me. I don't think I'm gonna watch this.

Lynda Carter is somehow still a smokeshow

Big deal is made during the film about the legend of Asteria, the greatest Amazon of all time. It's her golden eagle armor that Diana ends up donning.
Mid credits, heavy pole falls into the crowd at a street fair, mysterious woman catches the pole with one hand. Turns to reveal it's Lynda Carter. Woman asks who she is, "My name is Asteria."

Does this mean she's gonna be part of future DC movies? Sounds like just a fanservice cameo.

Why was it 4th of July for the fireworks but 2 days later it was Christmas?

Maybe Im nitpicking but I couldnt get it out of my head that Diana was cool with Trevor keeping that mans body and she basically raped the guy.
I mean he had no control over his own actions as Trevor had possessed him and she had sex with him.
I thought that was a weird choice for Patty Jenkins to put in the script, I understand other films have done this but it always seemed creepy to me.

quote:I agree, it’s pretty bad. The opening mall scene was too bad to qualify as camp, like a kung fu flick with comic strip bad guys. I knew then I was going to finish it but be disappointed.
it’s a terrible movie
The drawn out stretches of exposition added 30 minutes to the movie. Her final monologue was wooden, with no explanation of how she got the lasso on him when she tried and failed several times.
And to top of all off, the deus ex machina of her miraculous flying powers. C’mon man...

I think the major complaints center around the fact that there's no real villain, no one she has to physically beat. This isn't an "I'm going to whip your arse" movie.
Now, props for trying something different. She has to choose between her wish- the consequences of which would be, she'd be a normal woman and be with the love of her life in happiness; or give all that up and save the world, including Barbara and Max (who she refers to by first name). Nobody is defeated. The only one who loses is her.
It's a pretty deep concept, but the problem is, there's way less margin for error to pull it off memorably. And it doesn't fit well as a standalone move.
Now, is it "bad"... we have to see what DC overall is doing. Marvel made a 20 movie story, where films are basically episodes. Iron Man 3 was one of the worst standalones; but what happens to Tony in that is ESSENTIAL to the overall storyline of all movies.
This movie could be the same- Diana has to make some heavy choices, some defining decisions that could come back down the road. If they can put a string of movies together in a coherent story this one may be important. Otherwise, ... it's just a way to kill a couple hours.

I have not finished it yet. I was watching it after everyone went to bed. Got the room ready, surround sound going and made it to after take off of the jet. Decided it was not worth staying up for. I enjoyed the first one a lot. An hour and 20 into this movie and the most action is the lame fight in the mall. Is that what Wonder Woman spends her time doing?
I have not read this thread yet but will post again when I finish, which may not be today since it was not that motivating to finish. Thus far I am disappointed.

I hate convenient devices that exist to further plots.
For example, the store in the mall that just so happens to deal black market artifacts. No backstory is given. It existed only to further the plot.
The robbers just so happen to know about the store and it’s shady dealings. Who are they? Who hired them? They also existed only to further the plot.
And my absolute favorite: the thug drops his gun on the ground...”HE HAS A GUN. OMG!!!”

I had a feeling the was a problem when the guy drops a gun in the mall and a woman screams he’s got a gun and immediately there is a stampede of people headed out the doors.
That is not how people act
Also, the woman before who asked him “Sir, are you okay?”
He was fumbling with his bags a little bit, he wasn’t having a stroke. No one would have bothered him in that situation.
More contrived garbage that existed to further the plot.

I really do not think of what the writers were thinking on this daft to film movie...
They are giving many of the women super heroes far more powers than they had when I read comics back in the 60's and early 70's.
There are tons of very good story lines from the comic books that could have been used...
why the need for all the woke movies?
Greed is the villain in Jules Verne's titled Greed changed to Paris in the Twentieth Century when published.
