Doesn’t take a genius to realize that these spinoffs that have nothing to do with Spider-Man directly are just hapless cash grabs. They can’t use Peter Parker, yet they’re trying to ride the coattails of generic Spider-Man without saying “Spider-Man”.

Maybe just maybe marvel is learning (duhhh) people want the A listers and not the JV team they’ve been trying to make happen post Endgame

Funny how the savior of End Game, Captain Marvel, has all but flipped off and is basically no where to be seen. And what about Ms Marvel? Will Monica show up? Iron Heart?

Haven't waded into this movie's discussion thread, because I assume there's a ton of dumb. Are people here loving this movie as much as the box office suggests they would be?

It's mostly well reviewed. I liked it. It's 100% worth seeing

SUNDAY AM WRITETHRU after Saturday AM update: For a film’s second weekend to gross over $100M, that’s quite a gift, not just for a studio, but the greater exhibition industry. Spider: Man: Brand New Day caught $145M this weekend in its web (Sony just updated from $144.5M), the eighth title to pull this off, and it’s the fifth Marvel title to do so after Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and The Avengers.

Globally the pic stands at $1.67B, with an overseas $1 billion haul, becoiming the second fastest movie to cross $1 billion at the overseas B.O.

With an expected running cume of $655M by EOD, Brand New Day will have the highest 10-day gross in the history of the domestic box office, ahead of Endgame‘s 10-day $621.2M haul.

Iron Heart?
*** PROBABLY BUT PROBABLY NOT SPOILERS***

If the leaked script is to be believed, Ironheart dies bringing something to Rhodey

So she is in the movie

It is racking up the receipts and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I will concede that it isn't the most well constructed plot and the Jean Grey character is actually pretty much an evil person as portrayed.

These guys do a fairly good breakdown of those issues:

Having said that, Spiderman, MJ, and Punisher were well done and the most important thing in a Spiderman movie is to get Spiderman right. And at least this version of Jean Grey is a substantially better actor than Sansa

Monica I believe is in the X Men universe or she's supposed to be. Not sure what Carol is doing, I do hope Kamala comes back as part of something like the Young Avengers or X Men since she's technically a mutant. She was definitely one of the bright spots of the new heroes post Endgame even if the show itself was just ok

Kamala is the only likable character in the lot but they really need to sort some stuff out with her story, her powers & abilities, etc..

Jean Grey was poorly handled and it will take a lot of effort to make her likeable in future movies.
