Will smith resigns from the academy.
It’s all part of the bigger illusion boys.
Trust the plan

Will smith resigns from the academy.
On the bright side, hope he never makes another film.

He can no longer vote, but he can still win.

More evidence the whole thing was staged, right?

The notion that anybody involved had anything to gain is ridiculous …. Most certainly the academy. As a member, it was an embarrassment and I would have voted him out if possible. But he clearly crossed a line and exited a disgraced winner

Just imagine how many Oscars he's going to win for writing, directing, and starring in a movie about how they pulled off this hoax.

No. This reasoning leap is nonsensical. What's your thought process here?

Do not be afraid to see what you see.
There’s no way this was staged. The participants are wrong, wrong time of the show, and the fallout is nothing that the Academy or either of these actors want for their careers.
This is a case of people seeing something they just cannot accept is real. So they invent things in their heads so that they can make sense of it all.

Does anyone want to explain the two smile/smirks after the slap?
Or is the consensus is just "normal" to accidentally smile at the time of assault because all your of emotions?
Just another overwhelming coincidence Im sure

Yes, you're looking at a super close up of a fraction of a moment of a series of events. You can convince yourself all else was 'staged' by ignoring the rest and imagining what you see. Chris is in disbelief, Will looks around at the audience and it dawns on him what he's just done. It's the sheepish look of a kid who was caught with his hand in the cookie jar. You're reading far too much into it.
That anger he shows when he's yelling back at his seat, that's real.
This is why JFK's assassination is so hard for some to take. Why Sandyhook got Alex Jones in such trouble. Overt incidents like these NEED extraordinary explanations for some to accept. Because things like this don't happen. It MUST be some 'other' at play here.
Hillary couldn't have lost to Trump, he HAD to have colluded with Putin, somehow , to rig the election.
The truth is too much for some to handle. Better to construct some vague, super intricate and complex conspiracy.

I just know when I'm raging mad there's no chance in hell a "fraction of a second" would show me smiling
The guy that won best actor yelled curse words and was emotional. Big fricking deal, doesn't prove anything more than my obviously two men smiling does.
I'll give you Chris's reaction, that's the most "real" part to me.
But again [look shocked and confused] stage direction covers that.

Yes, 'curse words' which aren't allowed on US TV, at a live formal annual event which is at least partially intended to promote the industry, not burn it to the ground.
If this was some ploy by Pfizer to promote their alopecia drug, it's the worst covert PR campaign ever.
No one comes out looking good here. No one. Chris Rock maybe is the least damaged, but only begrudgingly so.
There's no upside to this event, any way you look at it.
That's what tells me it was legit. Hollywood isn't smart enough to put on something this original.

No, I don't want to explain this for the fourth time, no.
A better question would have been, "Since I refuse to accept the plausible reason given so far for this question, would you guys like to provide EVEN MORE different possibilities I can continue to ignore?"

The network had 30 seconds to dump the violence but only dumped the audio because of the fcc fines.
They allowed the violence to air.
Then they virtue signaled about "no tolerance" policy for violence.... After they handed a criminal who just assaulted a man the highest honor, prestige be damned.
Have they revoked the award yet? Bc that's been my criteria if this was real or not
