Not sure how or why any straight man would subject themselves to a musical aimed at women and gays

In March of 2023 my wife and I took a trip to New York City. While we were there I secured tickets for Aladdin, which was the hot ticket at the time…. On a whim I decided to grab us some tickets to Wicked on the same day. We hit up a double feature with Aladdin being the main course.

It was only after Aladdin that we both admitted that Wicked was the superior product. We also were able to see one of the final two performances of the respective witch (Talia Suskauer).

This movie recreated a lot of the magic. I think theatre is a different beast when done well and think the play continues to be superior, but darn it did they go for it and they achieved a lot.

The two leads were stellar and the rest of the parts were very well casted.

The cameos of the two original ladies was very well done and IMO Chenowith steals the scene.

The development of the story a little deeper was very well done.

Interested to see how they handle part two seeing as all the good numbers are now done.

Color me jaded but hot-take incoming,

I thought the leads were SO OVERRATED. I think maybe it was the politics / actress themselves bleeding through, they both felt disingenuous. Even though the voices are absolutely top notch, I was still searching to connect to them, there was something hollow / flat about it. When the Broadway gals cameo the energy instantly went to another level and the magnetism was immediate. Makes you see why the stage show took off.

But Absolutely Phenomenal "Set Design, Costumes, Cinematography". Quite an achievement for a "fantasy" movie musical. CGI enhanced it, didn't make it feel plastic. Felt very alive. Could have trimmed the fat, and made it 25-30 minutes shorter.

I am a straight conservative male and I thought it was fantastic.

Everybody involved did a great job, was talented enough to have the role, and the screenwriters stuck to the musical.

Except for that fruitcake Bowen Yang.

We saw it this weekend. I really enjoyed. Don’t go to the theater a ton but was glad that I saw it there. I really liked it. As a lot of people have said, Ariana Grande was very impressive. I thought it was very well done.

I may go see this at some point, but in my head canon the Wicked Witch of the West (played brilliantly by Margaret Hamilton) is one completely evil bitch with no redeeming qualities. Nothing sympathetic in her backstory.

She’s like the Emperor or Michael Myers. Just had to have frickin’ been born evil.

I finally went and saw it, and thought it was really, really good.

I wish Goldblum and Yeoh were better singers, but I didn't feel like that took away from the movie too much. Both are there for their acting.

I was very confident Erivo was going to be great but wasn't as sure about Grande's acting ability. Both were fantastic and you can see a lot of Chenoweth in Grande's performance. A lot of hit songs, and I can understand why it's been so well received.

I'm not sure how part 2 will compare since most of the popular songs are in part 1, but For Good should be truly great and hopefully the new songs end up being ok as well. I do think Erivo's "No Good Deed" will be great, and then maybe "Thank Goodness" can be a good Grande song on the back half but I guess we'll see.

Goldbum is a legitimate musician and singer. He’s just really old now so I think age has taken a slight toll on his voice.

I saw the original cast on Broadway in 2004 when I was 10. Loved it. I’ve seen it multiple times since on Broadway and on tour and listened to the soundtrack at least 100 times.

This is a fantastic stage to screen adaptation. They added a little context here and there, and the odd filler scene a couple times. But it really feels like the stage production put to screen. It’s very very good.

9/10 for me.

It would be a 10/10 but Madame Morrible sucked and the jury is out on Jeff Goldblum’s Wizard until the next act.

It’s not a myth. I’ve had tons of thick, slim thick, and adderall issue women. I feel qualified
