Just saw this show referenced in a thread on the more sports board and it reminded me of how pissed I was/am that it was cancelled. One of the funniest shows of all time. Yep, I just said that. And yes, I mad bro.

Spike wants to go in the direction of unscripted reality tv. They didn't want to hold onto a scripted sitcom that no longer made sense as a college football show. A spinoff about life in the NFL or even Canadian or Arena league would have been money. Too bad Spike TV's network heads are retarded.

It was a great show, but I mean, where were they going to go with it?
It was character driven with Alex, Thad, Mascot, ect... What are they ALL going to come back as student coaches? Follow them to the NFL? New players? Some big changes were going to have to happen in order to keep the show going, and it probably would have been worse. Now we have 3 seasons of extreme re-watchable greatness and don't have to bitch about how great it USED to be

It was a niche show on a niche network with very little crossover appeal. If they didn't capture a large percentage of their target demo, it's tough to justify keeping them on the air.

I don't know what their numbers were, just giving logical reasons.

The little bit of the show that I've seen didn't interest me, and I'm in their target demo, but my anecdotal evidence means little.

I remember hearing that the guy who played Alex tweeted out that there might be a movie coming out

Idk.. Each season of the show didn't have to be the next season of football. But I think they could have had another season in its current format. Oh well..

Isn't he a gay guy on The New Normal now?

ETA: nevermind, but Andrew Rannells really looks like Darin Brooks

I think they knew that they couldn't really come up with many more new ideas and still be funny. It doesn't help matters that the setting is in a college, where the main characters would have to be phased in and out as they enter and graduate.

Just my $0.02

Honestly i thought the show ran its course and did a good job of finishing up the series. I wish more shows would go out on a high note like that.

No kidding. Too many shows don't know when to stop, and consequently produce a season or two of shite to sign off with.

Chuck is a great example of this. Great show for 4 years solid and every season finale could have been considered a top 10 series finale and then they shite the bed on the last season and finale.

Fringe is another, four years of great shows and the fifth just kind of was meh.
