I agree with you. He's terrible. But we are in the minority on that...most people like him (which is why I assume you got hella downvotes).

I will say that I don't mind most of his movies, but I certainly don't watch them because he's good in them.

He's been good in some things though (Boogie Nights, The Fighter, Lone Survivor), overall I just don't care for him and don't think he's very good at all.

Dude has carved out a nice career though.

I guess I just don't understand the point of this thread. Unless he ruins movies, which he doesn't, but still gets work, the topic is idiotic. He's not a great actor, but he makes enjoyable movies and he does try new things. The majority of movie stars arent great actors. Is Tom Cruise great? Arnold Schwarzenegger? Bruce Willis? Sylvester Stallone? What about Jason Statham? Chris Pine? Chris Pratt? Or Aziz Ansari? Or Amy Schumer? Or even Chevy Chase?

It is rare to find a Bill Murray or Robin Williams. It is rare to find a DDL or Leo. So what exactly was this topic started for? It's fricking idiotic.

I agree. I think he's a horrible actor. He is lousy. It's like he has no skill at all. I won't watch movies that have him or Johnny Depp in them. They suck

He's in the hearts of millions of adolescent girls who grew up. So he makes guy movies that women are willing to go see with their boyfriends/husbands.

Is it weird that I think he's a terrible actor, but I really like him?

No. Do you like Arnold Schwarzenegger? Do you think he's a good actor?

I think he's a good blank slate kind of actor, and he seems easy to deal with, allowing him to get lots of work without creating problems. He seems to excel in ensemble pieces (Boogie Nights, Italian Job, the Departed, Perfect Storm).

I think the Ted movies suck out loud, but he was in the Other Guys, so he can do comedy. And he can do serious drama like The Fighter or The Basketball Diaries. He can't really carry a movie (Rockstar, Invincible), but he can do good big-budget work.

I find it hard to have an extreme opinion on him.

I've always been in the camp that the importance of "good" acting is over rated. Most of the stuff I've seem Marky Mark in I've liked, so i thought he was fine, certainly not ruining anything and I even like Rockstar but i do agree he's better in an ensemble cast .

If you have not seen The Departed, then I understand where you're coming from.

The simple fact of the matter is that he blew that role out of the park. It wasn't just his acting. It was his screen presence, his demeanor, and his "frightening at times though "sometimes hilarious delivery.

Bravo Mark.

He knows who he is and doesn't try to be anymore or any less.

worst line of the movie. I had some peacocks growing up and they most certainly can fly. Just not for a long time.

He isn't a great actor and most of his movies suck. But I'll always give him props for the good ones he's in and the fact he wrote/created one of my favorite shows ever, "Entourage".

But one day, Mr. Wahlberg and I are going to meet up somewhere. Then I am going to get revenge for over 20 years of everybody I know calling me Marky Mark. I hate that shite..

a. i don't think it's been said, but he's more successful as a producer than he is as an actor, for the most part

b. you should all download some doug loves movies podcast episodes with "mark whalberg" guest-appearing
