Take out Jar Jar and the guys who played Anakin in both films. How is Episode 2 better than 1? I do think there are portions of Episode I that work, but I can't think of a single coherent scene in Attack of the Clones.

I have to agree. Maybe I need to do a rewatch, but II was easily my least favorite.

I re-watched episode I and II on Monday and neither of them were as bad as I remembered.

Episode II has some entertaining scenes, it's the last 15 minutes of the movie that are very ridiculous.

I agree, I think II had a very good plot, it was pretty straight forward. But, look at ObiWan's lightsaber skills in I and then II, he is much worse. They did the character a disservice.

Phantom Menace was horrible, Clones was a little better and Revenge was pretty good.

The love scenes weren't in the final 15 minutes, as well as Anakin slaughtering women and children and going on a rant about it.

He may have been disarmed but he did ultimately defeat Maul and Grevious. Hell, the brief choreography between Maul and Obi Wan at the end was fantastic and I thought made Obi Wan look great.

As for his bouts with Dooku, well he more than held his own and it was his idea to do 2 v. 1 before Anakin rushed in and got handled pretty easily.

Right.

That guy who were told for three films and 21 years was the greatest Jedi ever who continually gets his shite pushed in throughout the prequels.

Which I think also speaks to the severe under development of another character, Dooku.

He just suddenly appears in the 2nd film but is apparently very powerful. He is the only one we see use lightning hands besides the Emperor himself and was trained by Yoda.

Then he gets beat pretty easily in Episode III.

But that's all we pretty much get.

Wooden acting, cartoonish characters, over-reliance on CGI opposed to makeup and cartoons, and just poor plot and development.

I've made this point before on here. If you give Lucas' writing every benefit of the doubt, you're still left with three different protagonists and three different antagonists in the Prequels.

Dual of the Fates is an awesome piece of music. That doesn't make Episode I a decent film.

I love Dual of the Fates. Its awesome. Really wish they had saved it for the final dual between Anakin & Obi-Wan.

Anakin and Obi are also way too young in the Prequels. I mean...the events of Star Wars only take place 18-20 years later. In 4 Alec Guiness is an old arse man and Anakin is clearly very old when he is unmasked, and his force ghost in the Original Cut is pretty old.

Anakin should have at least been in his 30s, Obi should have been in his 50s. They should have been closer to equals when Anakin falls. As it is, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

First of all, the Universe should have already been very run down and falling apart as we got there in whatever Episode 1 ended up being.

Leia claims to remember her mother, which is obviously not possible, unless we are talking adoptive mother, which is never said in the films. The things Obi says about Anakin, the FOrce, etc, do not match AT ALL with what "actually happens".

They are just a complete mess. I really hope they get redone one day.

Alec Guiness isn't as old as he appears. Hamill was older than Guiness was when shooting the Force Awakens.

Too old. Both should be in their 30s, with Obi Wan being 5 years or so older than Anakin. Obi Wan looks to be 60 in the original trilogy

I feel like Guiness looked old as hell, like in his late 60s or 70s.

But really that's besides the point and a minor quibble. The movies just make no sense in light of the OT.

The universe is pretty much fine, and then 18 years later its this totally fallen apart thing ruled by a galactic empire and everyone seems to have forgotten what it was like before then. Its barely even a generation.

The Universe needed to already be falling apart at the seams. The Clone Wars needed to be a long and protracted battle that had everything falling apart. Anakin and Obi needed to be very close friends. And then everything needed to unravel slowly. Anakin needed to be established as someone we care about that descends into madness. His seduction to the dark side needed to be subtle and tragic.

Instead it was idiotic.

The Clone Wars TV series does a lot of this fortunately, but there should have been way more of this in the movies.

There's a super long critique video on YouTube by this loony guy that actually spells it out pretty well.
