"I'm going off to cut myself off from the force, never be found, and die, but just in case you want to come visit so I can tell you to get lost, here's where I'll be."

Edgy, Rian. So edgy.

This is what happens when you have a writer/director trying too hard to subvert expectations.

A lot of good women died getting that map. It’s a shame the patriarchy had to shite all over their sacrifice.

Apparently he thought the story was too complicated and just wanted it to be Rey vs Kylo so he just dismissed and killed off everyone complicating the main story. The anger has been how he seems to not care how he did that.

"What does it matter, they are dead, now lets talk about the future"

It was directly mentioned in the movie multiple times. "Forget the past" or something like that, the idea being he is resetting the narrative.

Stuff like this is why The Force Awakens becomes worse simply because of this movie.

This is what happens when you don’t have a story outline from 7-9 and have these pretentious retards at the helm that come up with their own bullshite for each episode. Especially that queer Rian

I give it two weeks before most ardent defenders abandon ship. The movie was a pile of shite

Luke didn't leave behind a map to where he would be. The "map to Luke" was a pieced-together map to the first Jedi temple, which is where they assumed he would be.

But don't let that stop your crusade.

And how stupid is it that Luke goes to the first Jedi temple to cut himself off from the force?

If he had the ability to disappear and die why didn't he just do that in the first place?

I have a lot of issues with TLJ, but R2 was Luke’s droid. If he was going to map out the first Jedi temple to go there, he would have used R2 to do it.

It’s equivalent of looking at someone’s GPS to see the last place they went. The bigger question is why he went there and why he didn’t take R2 with him.

I’m pretty sure the whole synopsis of the force awakens is them trying to get the map off of B.B.-8 because it leads to Luke Skywalker. They all seemed pretty confident that’s where he’d be. At no point in the movie do they say “it MAY lead to Luke.” Even the man who had to map was his friend, while the other half of the map was with R2-D2, who was last awake before Luke left.

But don’t let logic interrupt your mental gymnastics.

"A lot of rumors. Stories. People that knew him best... think he went looking for the first Jedi temple." - Han Solo

That implies belief, not certain knowledge, wouldn't you say?

ETA: They know where the map should lead, and they believe that's where Luke is. That's how I always viewed it.

Also, here's this:

quote:

The story group’s thinking went back to the 1977 original movie, when R2-D2 accessed the Empire’s mainframe as the heroes searched for the captured Princess Leia. “We had the idea about R2 plugging into the information base of the Death Star, and that’s how he was able to get the full map and find where the Jedi temples are,” Arndt said.

Abrams says he chose to spell this out indirectly in the movie because he didn’t want the story to get bogged down in “how s–t happened 30 years ago.”

“But the idea was that in that scene where R2 plugged in, he downloaded the archives of the Empire, which was referenced by Kylo Ren,” Abrams said. Thirty-eight years later, in both our own and galactic time, that data becomes useful in The Force Awakens when a new droid approaches the dormant R2.

“BB-8 comes up and says something to him, which is basically, ‘I’ve got this piece of a map, do you happen to have the rest?’” Abrams said. “The idea was, R2 who has been all over the galaxy, is still in his coma, but he hears this. And it triggers something that would ultimately wake him up.”

You're an idiot

We know R2 was with Luke when Kylo destroyed the academy. We know that Luke immediately went into hiding. So he sent R2 away, causing R2 to go into hibernation.

So if anyone but Luke created that map, how would R2 know which piece they would be missing, before he even went into hibernation?

Look man, the only way they’d know where Luke was is if he told someone. He could go anywhere in the galaxy, and you pick the one place he went? And if he wanted to be shut off from the force, why go to the first Jedi Temple? That’s like if you wanted to shut God out but you go live in a church? That’s just sh*tty writing.

This times a thousand! How the hell do you pay 4 billion dollars for the franchise and then in your first big step set out to make a trilogy without planning the story out first? Kennedy should be fired immediately for incompetence for allowing that. If you're going to do that, then you should at least be smart enough to let one director do all three and tell his story.
