This board isn’t representative of how people felt about this movie.
I’ve talked to around a dozen friends/family and everyone loved it except for one and that person didn’t like it because he was so twisted up about the SJW stuff.
56% rating on RT.

to turn generations of young boys into subservient yes men who kneel before everyone. Equality is the aim. Superiority is the aim.
And Hillary is in charge now, so get used to it. (*this message was pre-recorded in 2016)

And if you read this board and nothing else, you’d think that 56% should be 4%.
If someone around here says they liked the film, they’re accused of trolling.

56% for a star wars movie may as well be 4%.
You have every single built in advantage as humanly possible and you still manage to frick that up.

Honestly I don't give a shite about the SJW crap, I like Daisy Ridley and think she is great as Rey. It just wasn't a good movie

Pacing was too fast
Humor was inappropriate for the scenes
Bad CGI
Way too many characters to properly service any of them
Too many cutsey animals doing cutsey things

Wrong
I'm pretty liberal and I didn't like it either

The issue is a lot of liberals will feel like they have to defend it because it did attempt to be "progressive"
Posted on 12/17/17 at 10:32 am to Tiguar
And some conservatives feel like they have to attack it for the same reason, which marginalizes the legitimate complaints about this movie

Difference being I do believe their focus on being progressive did make them ignore their flaws.
They thought they could make a shitty, progressive movie and it be okay.
The conservatives are correct.

Shoehorning diversity into this film caused some of the problems. You cannot tell me Rose was a good addition to the plot of this movie. Why the hell was she there? She was just an Asian female getting a few hero moments. You cannot tell me Holdo was a needed character when Ackbar was a long-standing character that fit the role perfectly. She was just another female put in as a leader that could get a hero moment.
Those characters broke the immersive experience of the film. I spent time trying to figure out who they were and what their role was, and that was a waste of time.
Some of the conservative fist-slamming is definitely over the top. I don't think the movie was made to be a criticism of men and the vilification of white men. I do think Disney felt they had a responsibility to represent a wide spectrum of race and gender and by doing so lost sight of what was important in the story.

It really didn't. The problems with this movie are far more fundamental than what race or gender certain characters are.

The progressive bullshite was unnecessary, it could've still been a good movie despite it. The B plot was fricking terrible as well as their handling of Snoke and Luke

All good points. The movie had fundamental flaws outside of the SJW shite but it can all be tied back to the SJW shite.
Had disney said "Hey, lets make a good movie" instead of "Hey, lets make sure we give non-white-males their day", it would have been a better movie. That is a fact.
