They don't have to be phased out. But they are. Why?

Phased out in the OT? Proof, please.

In the OT, all the Stormtroopers are the same height and build, have the same voice and the same generic number/names. "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" implies that they are all THE SAME. We never see one without a helmet. We never see one with a proper name. We never see anything that indicates that they AREN'T the same clones we saw in the prequels. In fact, the evidence on-screen suggests they ARE.

Because what George did with the Clone Wars is the single worst idea for a war of all time. Worthless clones vs worthless droids, all bred for war. Aside from the Jedi, I don't know who was affected by the Clone Wars at all. There's no way George planned for the Stormtroopers to be the clones. Next to having a good main character and bringing the Force back to its origins, that was the next thing on the list that Abrams had to check off on. Just an awful concept.

Yep. JJ is just a little SJW hack. He couldn't resist.

But Boyega is a decent actor. If they didn't give him stupid, patronizing shite to say like "droid, please" he would have been a more engaging character.

You joke, but it really wouldn't surprise me if there's a gay relationship in the next one.

But it's Star Wars and will make a fortune regardless, so they'll feel vindicated.

What is your take on whether the Clonetroopers were changed to Stormtroopers just to cast a black actor?

I thought it was pretty well known they did this because the clones started to be hard to control and shite and having major side effects so the First Order starting snatching up babies across the galaxy.

But I also thought Kylo was like 15 so don't trust my word.

Wait. People were under the impression that the stormtroopers in the OT were clones?

What? No.

The Stormtroopers weren't clones by the OT.

If I recall from the Battlefront 2 game, after the clone wars the Stormtroopers were formed. Called Vader's Fist, they actually battled the remnants of the Clone troopers on Kamino and wiped them out.

Man, the new battlefront needed a campaign mode so bad.

Back on track.

Boyega was cast as a diversity hire, As was "captain Phasma", per the quote earlier about the Emmy's.
Not that either of them are bad actors, but the roles weren't well written and felt inserted.

I've been struggling to find any reason other than diversity hire that they were cast and written like they were.

But...

I guess if you came into the mix during or after the prequels, it could be what you think.

Myself, I never cared for that concept. When Ben and Luke discuss his father fighting in the Clone Wars, I never, ever took that to mean the clones were on the 'good' side. The very title suggests they fought AGAINST the clones, or against cloning.

This is the problem. "Diversity hire" could mean that they hired an individual for the sole sake of diversity alone, not unlike the SJW movement.

A "diversity hire" could also mean that they hired an individual because the "diversity" would broaden the appeal to other viewer demographics, like women and African-Americans.

The former has little substantive purpose, while the latter would be based on a business decision and have a substantive purpose. So resisting anything that isn't "diverse" without any regard for the substance, is just as ignorant as dismissing "diversity" without any regard for the substance.

In other words, taking the polar opposite stance of the SJWs on an issue, yet using their same poor logic, makes one no better than the SJWs themselves.

Agree. I don't think it's social justice, per se. I think it's marketing posing as social justice. Still, "droid please" was just patronizing, and if I were black, I'd have been kind of offended by that.

And if Finn and Rey hook up, that's a bad business decision. It's a dirty little secret that the Asian markets are really turned off by interracial relationships and don't care for American black people. Finn is a actually shrunken down in the poster they released to those markets.
