Shia LeBeouf's character stole from them by running their crab traps. To teach him a lesson, and try to deter other lowlifes from doing the same, they beat him up. He gets mad about getting beat up and burns all their equipment. The guy said it was around $11K in loss for him. Why should he get away with that?
