I don't think its a matter of her being confused, she just doesn't give af which country she is in because in her mind she is so much better than all these poor people. Her only worry in life is how her and her family are viewed by the other country club families. Those type of people love jumping on each other when one of them is "down" (having a daughter in the jungle in a robe is "down" to her"...little does she know lol) because it raises them in the pecking order.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that in my post. He definitely handled that shite weirdly/wrongly. He seems like sort of a piece of shite who could snap at any minute.

Yeah I think I got the vibe that he'd murder to save the reputaion of the White Lotus and think he is in the right for doing so.

I just thought the manager was spineless. He was all concerned until the mention of police came up as is wants to protect his job.

The other tidbit from this episode that got lost due to the insanity is that the hotel manager is a POS. He’d rather hide fugitives and keep their reputation strong than believe that the black chick is in danger. He is more sinister than he lets on.

Good point. Kind of forgot about that scene. He was a little hard to get a read on and has by far the least amount of screen time of any of the managers on White Lotus so far so he feels a little irrelevant, but maybe not.

I know nothing about Thailand but I would assume that harboring a suspected murderer is low on the list of a nefarious things that a Thai hotel manager is capable of. I don't think that Uncle Rico and Lady-Boy Rockwell are the only "this and that" guys hiding out there.

This is the part that stood out to me. I think he's going to somehow be involved. They always seem to bring a fringe character into the fold late that get's way more involved.

Idk, to me he came off as someone in power that views the product as most important and everything (or anyone) else is expendable. Like a music industry exec that tells a rape victim to stay quiet because reporting rape will make THEM look bad and ruin THEIR career. Maybe murder is a bit of a stretch from what we have seen but he definitely showed he would rather hide crime than face a scandal even if it means letting people get hurt.

if the “police” are eventually called there’s more than Greg/Gary on site at the hotel that might think they are coming for them

“We all have our Achilles heel.”

What a frickin line by Rockwell right after that extraordinary overshare monologue.

i watched some movie with my kids a few years back where this black girl's mom goes missing after going on a trip with her asian boyfriend.

i called it as foul play because those two absolutely do not go for each other in real life.

Have we talked at all about how terrible Gaitok is at his job? He lets that SUV in unchecked to rob the place, could maybe say that’s just a dumb mistake while taking to a coworker, okay…

But not only does he leave a gun out in the open to be stolen, he KNOWS where the gun is and who has it, barely confronts the guy, doesn’t tell anyone and just clocks out for the night? He’s got to know that guy didn’t just steal the gun for fun, he’s the worst security guard of all time!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the person that gets shot is a bystander because Gaitok is a pussy.

You do realize that if he asks for help from other employees to get the gun back, he'd get fired immediately? Yes he's a pussy for not doing more to get it back but he's not an idiot and knows he has to get it back on his own without making a scene or he's fired.

and yes he's a terrible security guard.

I'm not sure thats true. He has video evidence of a guest stealing the gun. I can't recall why he left the security hut in the first place but if he was doing his job, its not really his fault the gun was stolen and he could act like the guy took it from the drawer. I would have told the bosses immediately and let the cards fall where they may.

He is a terrible security guard though.

It's 100% his fault the gun was stolen.
They would have video evidence of his dumbass taking it out of the locked drawer, and then leaving it on the desk for anyone to see, while then leaving the security hut to chase some tail. This after he already was on thin ice for not doing his job well. He'd be fired immediately if they found out.

Oh yeah. He is fricked either way. He should be in guest relations, not security.
