I think Greg just fled, hence the name change.

hopefully they eventually address how Greg got away with it after “questioning”. I guess it helped that Tonya killed his co-conspirators LOL.

But Portia knows what happened and so does the “nephew”

Like Mickey, I get the impression Greg (now Gary) fled. It's also possible that when he was interviewed he framed it as something else due to lack of survivors. Could be easy for him to write it off as a murder/suicide or something along those lines. He also left Italy early, likely so he could have an alibi.

I think after Portia's almost being taken out experience, she probably learned pretty quickly to get the frick out and shut the frick up. Hence her lack of involvement after the fact. And the "nephew" certainly isn't going to say anything with his involvement in it all.

a nugget from the ringer on one of their recaps...

the tree near the ratliff's room that drops poisonous fruit (discussed in episode 1) is Cerbera odollam, known locally as "pong-pong" and colloquially as the "suicide tree"

the Dad makes a smoothie to kill himself and poor Loche drinks the smoothie looking for gains?

I definitely think Gaitok is going to set this whole thing off trying to play the hero

My quick theory is that the whore is going to recruit/groom Saxon to help her in another robbery. He will go along with when he finds out that they will be poor with his Dad in jail. Gaitok tries to save the day. Shootout ensues. Mook gets killed in the crossfire.

Are we watching the same show?

In season 1, the most woke characters were Olivia and Paula who are completely unlikeable and kept getting put in their place.

In season 2, Albie and Portia get worked over by Portia falling into the very kind of behavior the red pill community says women do without even thinking about it by ditching Albie and going with the much hotter and seemingly richer nephew. Albie gets played by Lucia the whore because he can’t get past his woke programming that sex workers are all victims who would stop doing what they’re doing if they had the right opportunity.

White consistently shows these characters to be the fools they really are.

and albie’s ridiculous comments about the godfather movies LOL. His dad and grandfather shut his whiney arse down

every brainwashed character in all three seasons has been mocked

It's not just the slowness. I think it's just the characters themselves and their stories aren't as interesting as previous seasons

I just don't care about the dad and his financial/law problems. It's obviously one of the main story lines but it's just not drawing me in at all. Definitely don't care about him now immediately being addicted to pills.

This was definitely a slow episode but I think if you judged the first two seasons of WL just on the first three episodes you'd be pretty disappointed in those as well.

I find it interesting that every time the Carolina father is outside talking on his cell phone about the FBI doings back home, the Thai security guard who is getting friend zoned is always shown listening in from his post inside the entrance building.

one thing though…how plausible is it that Belinda would not have heard about Tanya’s death in Italy? Surely that made the news, and even if it didn’t the employees would have known about it.

I think it could be justified pretty easily since it happened 8,000 miles away. Granted it's the same resort but it doesn't appear that they have too many ties to each other and probably different owners for each location.

since Greg clearly got away with it I don’t see how her knowing changes the story any

The one that doesn't make much sense though is why would Greg even show up at another White Lotus. Seems like a dumb move for a guy who has gotten away with conspiracy to murder. Are there not other nice resorts you could have went to?

Parts of Koh Samui are hard to navigate and the resort is built into the hillside and jungles of the Northwestern tip of the island. Greg's house, which you will see soon is nearby (in the story). Easy for him to drop down and eat there as fine dining options are scattered all over the island. (IRL - you cannot easily get around that Four Seasons without a golf cart. Too hilly)

Oh, and creative license. And Thailand .. they aren't paying attention to the most wanted list, which of course he wasn't on anyway.

I don't recall the first 2-3 episodes of the prior seasons being this slow. Thankfully, things finally started getting interesting towards the end of episode 3.

I'm also not as interested (so far) in these characters compared to some of those in prior seasons. Armand was GOAT level and I loved the much of the s2 characters.
Goggins seems to have the most potential, and interesting to see how Greg/Gary storyline develops.

This scene is typical of how White draws up politics. The two liberal friends do not come off well here. White loves to crap on uber-woke, virtual signaling liberals each season.

TikTok ran through the same madness and hysteria that is, not only the status quo on the Left, but also perfectly illustrates how disconnected they are from reality. How cold, uncaring, and cruel they are. It isn’t just that power corrupts. It’s that power is a high no one can give up.

White is one of the few willing to break out.

I don't really think that was a win for either side. To me the scene came off as saying 100% she should not have voted for Trump and 100% the other two were complete bitches for making her feel bad for voting for him. Both sides could come away either mad, happy, or divided on how to feel about the scene. Which is pretty great writing imo. Same thing for the two twats in S1, they look awful and righteous at the same time.

Lesie Bibb explains it as Mike wanting you to see we have to be able to talk to each other, without your preconceived assumptions. It's not black and white, and just because someone voted for trump, doesn't make them a bad person. And the reactions are exactly the reactions you would see from an east coast white liberal female.
