There were occasions of building stuff. Jerry and George doing the TV show built over time. Puddy and Elaine's relationship (could also be more of a recurring character.)
But I get it wasn't prominent.

Seinfeld's finale was terrible. The whole last season was kind of blah. But the finale was a disservice to the series, which is a GOAT.

The last season of Seinfeld was fantastic. It's one of the few great shows that didn't decline in it's last few years.
I was sad to see it go, but it's to their credit they ended it before shitting out the obligatory 3-4 horrible seasons almost all popular shows do in their twilight.

I re-watched the Office series and finally watched the last episode. It IMHO, was a great finale.
Michael Scott left the show after season 7 and I understand that people change when they get the things they want in life (kids, family, etc) but that was a terrible ending.
It was as if Steve Carell just graced the show and his former cast mates with his presence. Two fricking lines containing less than 10 words and he jumps up and down with Dwight when they were dancing. frick him. He could have at least be in the office with everyone else while Creed was singing

The Office and it isn’t remotely close.

He said he already got to do his goodbye and didn’t want to be a distraction from the other characters.

Just watched Office last 4 episodes today actually.
It definitely flubbed the final seasons, but Jim and Pam figuring out their selfishness and him giving up Athlead for her, then her selling the house for him was actually some good development and tied it up nicely.
All the other characters (outside of Kelly and Ryan have really satisfying closure
Seinfeld being a clipfest I didn’t love but I did like their narcissism on display for a final episode with them sitting around having a conversation about nothing.
Friends was pure cheese. I like the show overall but the finale has nothing memorable about it. Ross and Rachel probably broke up a week later.
I’d rank them in that order.

Seinfeld's finale was poor at best. Didn't see the other ones.

The last season of Seinfeld had some great episodes.
Now that I've seen every episode of Seinfeld more than once (maybe much more), I think the finale was pretty perfect. I think it got blasted because it was such a big news event that the show was ending and it drew in viewers who weren't really fans. It was like a meta-episode. It brought in past characters and jokes to follow up on each other, the way that individual episodes had. And it ended with the stand up comedian facing a tough crowd. Perfect.

quote:incorrect. Jerry was a show about nothing. Seinfeld was originally based on Jerry Seinfeld's comedy and developed into more, but it was never a show about nothing. That has been confirmed by Larry David.
Seinfeld messed up by trying to actually have a finale. It was a self proclaimed show about nothing

I don’t even remember the Friends finale. But the show had gotten cringey by that point.

I agree with you. It was the biggest thing on the planet and everyone tuned in, I think fans who followed it through the majority of the series appreciates the finale. I know I do

It's such a good finale.
The moment when you see Michael stand-in as best man and he drops the "that's what she said" line had me both laughing and tearing up. That was before all the internet detectives were out so I had no clue he was going to be in the finale. Having him there and having him nail that so perfectly was just picture perfect.
