Of course it is...that's one reason it's so great. It's dumb on purpose.

And Freaux, are you fricking with me about SBTB? I honestly didn't realize you loved it...but now I see that Baloo hates it, and he is your e-twin. So:

Do you love SBTB?
[ ] yes
[ ] no

I grew up with it, I think Baloo was a little ahead (if only by a very small margin).

SBTB is like Rad. I love it because I loved it. If that makes sense.

Rad is a terrible film.....

That I love so very much.

There was one point, long ago, when I thought alajones hung the moon. Fella had superior taste in film, akin to my own.

Then something happened to him and he turned into Wes B

like he said, I don't think you're as bad, but I lump you together with CP3 for some reason.

No offense.

People appreciate the quality of tv shows and movies I like. I shouldn't be lumped in with Ipodking

Though I don't think any amount of good times on this board will ever rid me of the frustration I feel when I think about According to Jim being on TV for 8 seasons and like 180 episodes.

I agree that show sucks, and I doubt the existence of God based solely on the fact John Belushi died young and Jim still has an acting career. No God could be that cruel.

But here's how you have to look at it: most people don't care about this stuff. We're the minority. I'm glad we exist, and so is the entertainment industry, but most people simply turn on the box and whatever is on is on, and they just want a well-made distraction. Honestly, there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

My mother-in-law stops by every once in awhile to see Mowgli during the week, and when she does, she asks to watch her shows on occasion. I happily oblige. It is because of her I have seen NCIS. NCIS is a bland, generic show that was in no way challenging or even interesting to me. But know what? She loved it. And it is well-made by industry pros. NCIS is one of the top rated shows on TV, and it aspires to be forgotten right after you finished watching it.

There is simply nothing to be gained by pointing out to her how awful the show is. Let her enjoy it and the world is a slightly better place. We could all use some more enjoyment in the world. But you'd be shocked how long I can do the dishes so I don't have to watch it.

It makes perfect sense.

And whew...okay. Didn't want to give you massive brownie points for SBTB if you were fricking with me.

Baloo just doesn't know what good sitcom television is apparently.

I'm not really sure who I agree with. I know I like it when Baloo agrees with me.

I like anyone that can defend their POV intelligently, and is open to hearing peoples' thoughts. Anyone that starts a thread with simply a movie title, and then their message is "POS, avoid at all costs," and acts like it's a documented fact, I can't stand....I want to physically fight them.

ETA: I also don't like people that go out of their way to not like something. As a fan, I try really hard to like everything that I watch. Doesn't mean it always happens, but I try.

I'm an older guy but I do seem to remember a few guys who appreciate 60's and 70's TV, especially The Honeymooners, Twilight Zone, Mission Impossible, All In The Family, etc.

Also The Day The Earth Stood Still, Hitchcock Films, It's A Wonderful Life, 12 Angry Men, Cool Hand Luke, The Graduate, It's A Mad Mad Mad World, etc.

I do find a lot of people like 3 movies in particular that are fairly recent that are my favorites though -
Shawshank, Fargo, and Office Space

Well the few things he is enthusiastic about I am as well. There are some thins I disagree with him on, but most the films he hates I either dislike or am indifferent about them.

That's what I like about it. And what I like about this board is that there are a good bit of people here that actually explain their opinions on something. It isn't simply "I don't like ___ movie because it sucks." Or "____ was awesome." Someone nailed it earlier with the hyperbole statements...there are people here who are good at explaining why they like/dislike things.

Yep, its what separates us, from say, the Poliboard. The Poliboard will just start off on someone for being liberal or have a slightly different opinion than them. Tons of posters can't get off a page without being personally insulted with something that has nothing to do with the subject.
