As I've gotten older The Terminator has become my favorite. Having Arnold as the protector in the other films made the fight seem... less desperate.. I guess would be the best way to put it. Reese was just this young tired hungry soldier against this unstoppable killing machine and Arnold has never been more menacing. I watched it recently too and that scene when Arnold is stalking Sarah in Tech Noir and walks past her table ..the music and scene slow down and Sarah looks up to see Reese staring at her as the Terminator turns back... so freakin cool.

T2 by far. Doesn't mean T1 was bad but T2 is just so damn good.

It depends. If I want to see a straight horror flick, The Terminator. If I want to see a great summer action blockbuster with horror elements, I want T2.

I agree, except that I think Alien is FAR better than Aliens. I've said this many times here (to many downvotes), Aliens is actually a little overrated IMO.
As for Terminator, I saw the original as a kid but didn't remember much about it. Then I saw T2 and it blew my mind. I remember being at my buddy on my baseball team's house and it was on TV (don't know if he had it on tape or what), but the little parts I saw were awesome. I watched it shortly thereafter and thought it was incredible.
And the SFX truly do hold up to those of today, and even outshine a good bit of them still today. That is an impressive feat for a nearly 30 year old movie.

I think I'm the only the Terminator fan that doesnt think T3 sucked. Its a total re-hash of T2 but as action films go I think its pretty entertaining. I thought Salvation was meh and Genysis was fricking awful.

Not mine..
I was almost 5 years old and I remember this as clear as day after all these decades.
Was over at a friends house and "the return of the living dead" and "the terminator" were rented. Changed my life.

Alien vs Aliens is actually a really god comparison to t1 vs t2. Never thought about that.
Both comparisons are some of the very few occasions where the sequel could be better than an already great movie. It happens happens in super hero movies more often but outside of The Godfather/Godfather 2 and Frankenstein/ Bride of Frankenstein I cant think of many sequels that were better than the original. As far as great movies go,
