Which is better: The Terminator or T2: Judgement Day?

My personal fave is T2
But I just rewatched The Terminator and it holds up surprisingly well. It might have the edge. Arnold was huge and intimidating as frick

I liked the story of T1 more, but the production of T2 was better.

The Terminator is a really good movie. T2 is one of the best action movies of all time.

I was 10 when T2 came out. I remember watching the Guns N Roses music video for it just waiting to be able to watch the movie. I saw T2 before I saw the first one, and it was awesome. Eventually I saw the original, and the action wasn't quite as good but the plot line and story was better. I have a hard time choosing between the two.

Both incredible but they're two different genres IMO. T2 all time great action movie while the original is an all time great horror flick.

T2. But Terminator 1 is still a fricking amazing film in its own right. Leagues above every other installment.
I liked the first's story more, but T2 had the better arrival scene, better action scenes in general, and Arnold's acting was significantly better, plus better practical effects, some which hold up today (not the T-1000's liquid metal stuff).

T2 but loved T1. T1 is damn near a horror movie. T2 is the greatest sequel of all time.

It’s kind of like asking “Which is better? Scrubs or Happy Days. While they are sitcoms, they are very different.
Both movies are sci fi, but that’s about it.
T1 is more like sci-fi mixed with axe murderer. It’s almost a horror movie.
T2 is just a great 90’s action movie.
Both are really great for what they set out to do.

Who’ll ever forget the scene when he steps off the elevator in front of Sarah and she’s sees him again. What a great scene.

T2 is among the movies in the discussion of the sequel surpassing the original (see, Empire Strikes Back; Aliens; Godfather II; Wrath of Khan).

It's really difficult to compare the two because they are both two entirely different genres if you really think about it. Yes, they are both Sci-Fi due to the time travel and cyborg elements, but The Terminator is more of a slasher flick while T2 is a straight up action/adventure movie.
They are both A+ movies as far as I'm concerned. I could sit down and watch either of them at any time and not be bored.
