Superbad was a better film but the cast of American Pie has held up better.

Eh, not sure that's true.

They're less annoying than the Superbad cast. I'd rather watch an interview with Biggs or Sean Wiliams Scott than with Rogen or Hill or the rest of that cast.

If I had to re-watch one right now, it would be Superbad.

Never enjoyed Superbad. Maybe I was too old. Maybe it wasn't for me. American Pie made more sense to me and my friend crew, and came out just before HS.

AP, and AINEC

american pie was meant for the teen demo

Superbad more for adults well out of HS as a look back to your younger days

Both are fantastic, but I have to go with American Pie since my nickname in college was Stifler

A more wholesome, universal experience: American Pie

Funnier but not as wholesome: Superbad

I love both, but American Pie meant more because I was that age when the film came out. I just connected with it far more than Superbad

I was an 17 year old virgin heading into my senior year when AP came out. It resonated.

I was a 26 year old virgin when SB came out. The last thing I wanted to relate to at that point was bigger nerds than me getting laid.

If I had to choose, I'd go American Pie.

But both are excellent though.

I'd agree.

AP is just so dang iconic it over shadows the quality in 2.

American Pie. Superbad first 40 minutes was great but got dull for a while after that. Michael Cera character was annoying.

I recently did a rewatch of the first 2 AP movies. They are hysterical, though I'm pretty sure they guys would have been incarcerated today for that Nadia scene.

Stifler truly is an ALL-TIME great movie character. The writing for him was so brilliant on so many levels. McLovin is cool, but he cant hold a candle to the Stiff Meister.

And so, for that reason Its AP for me. Hell i still vividly remember where i watched both AP and AP 2 (house on VCR and theatre with a bunch of high school friends, respectively.)

American Pie is like "Friends" for me. At the time I thought it was great. But as the years go on and I've gotten older it just doesn't hold up as well. I didn't love Superbad when it first came out, but now I find it much more re-watchable than American Pie.

Too bad the Shermaninator ended up way cooler than you

We are the same age. And I completely agree. American pie was a must watch for us. And the “one time… band camp” line along with tits, MILF, etc. it was a very good watch. But the humor doesn’t last. It was more campy than real lol humor. Superbad is a true rewatch that doesn’t get awkward or old. It’s just a better movie.

This is the classic the “first is more fun but the second is a better movie.”

I graduated in 99 so exactly when AP came out. It was great for what it was and had more memorable cultural moments to me albeit retarded ones

It had BY FAR the better looking girls in it.

Superbad is a better movie even though I was older than the characters by about a decade and its scenarios/comedy hold up better.

Superbad and it isn't even close (and I like the original American Pie, FWIW).

Superbad, and it’s not even close. I was in HS when AP came out. So I’m the opposite of most in that I should have more nostalgia for it, but Superbad is just a better and funnier movie. If I want to laugh and these two movies are the choices, then it is a no brainer - Superbad.
