Not sure it counts because it’s more about the back home maneuvering, but Darkest Hour was great.

Yes they do. 1917, All Quiet on the Western Front, Fury, 13 Hours, and that's just off the top of my head. Expand your horizons baw!

None of those are movies on the “Great War”.

1917, they shall not grow old, all quiet on the western front are all recent movies on the Great War that are fantastic war movies.

All joking aside, all 3 of those movies are excellent.

Wish I would have seen it in the theater.

Saw 1917 in the theater and it was absolutely riveting. Didn't translate as well on the re-watch on the big screen TV at home. But I did like All Quiet as well. I love WWI history.

Alamo Drafthouse played it in a special screening a few months ago after the Netflix release. I'd already seen it four or five times by then, and it exceeded expectations. The farm looting scenes were barely even noticeable, I think because I was emotionally recovering from what happened directly before. Masterful use of music to cause your mind to just know shite was about to go down.

Yet more props to Alamo, a few years ago they put Full Metal Jacket in their theaters for one night. Matthew Modine did the pre-movie explainer (on film, not in person), and yelled at the end of his spiel, "Let me see your war face!" So many middle aged dudes going nuts, including me.

All Quiet was amazing.

But, the best war movies since SPR were Band of Brothers and The Pacific, even if they were miniseries.

If we are counting series, Generation Kill deserves some respect

Really liked The Hurt Locker and Three Kings. Also loved the Dunkirk mostly for the vibe and cinematography. Also liked Eye In The Sky. Apocalypse Now will always be the best to me.
