All Quiet on the Western Front was intense. It really captured the brutality of WWI.

Apocalypse now isn’t even really a war movie in my book.

The Outpost was good and recently made. Eastwood gave a solid performance.
13 Hours is great but really pisses me off every time I watch it.

keep meaning to watch All Quiet on the Western Front and haven't yet. I've heard it is very good.
The last two "great" war movies that I've seen are 1917 and Dunkirk. Both impacted me greatly.
All Quiet is much better than those 2.

But, the best war movies since SPR were Band of Brothers and The Pacific, even if they were miniseries
Generation Kill is another great HBO miniseries.

I just saw the 2022 edition of All Quiet, for those who've seen all three how would you rank them among one another?

Saw 1917 in the theater and it was absolutely riveting. Didn't translate as well on the re-watch on the big screen TV at home.
1917 was fantastic in the theater. The cinematography was absolutely top notch. I watched at home and was disappointed. Even on a large tv screen with surround sound it doesn’t have the same feel to it.

Just did a rewatch of Avengers:IW, peak Marvel movies, really well done. Some say Endgame is the peak, but I like Infinity War just a bit more.

I liked 1917 and still do. But it had a Disney-fied feel to it I can't quite explain. Hacksaw Ridge too. Maybe it's just in how they were produced, they just seem more "mass market" for whatever reason.
I might be on an island with this.

The Thin Red Line
Last great. Probably not. Great movie and not mentioned yet.
Conflict at Guadalcanal.
Nick Nolte, Sean Penn, Jim Caviezel, Adrien Brody, John Cusack, and cameos from several others.
