If we're being honest...for what it did for movies and Hollywood prestige.

There were a lot of other countries making movies, Hollywood was no juggernaut early on (watch that Netflix series, History of Cinema) but the world fell in.love with myth and action and Westerns.

And the beautiful way it was shot that influenced everything.

LINK

With maybe the babe of the century, one of the top actors of the century, it's a Western...it's about being loyal after betrayal.

It made the Western the iconic Hollywood movie making medium for the world and really influenced and changed the action genre.

Hopper/Walken in True Romance as far as dialogue goes. I'm not sure that a scene like that could be written in this new PC age where every protagonist has to portray the ideals of an human resources manager.

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
