1992 Alien 3
1995 Seven
1997 The Game
1999 Fight Club
2002 Panic Room
2007 Zodiac
2008 The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
2010 The Social Network
2011 The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
2014 Gone Girl

He is also a director and executive producer for House of Cards and Mindhunter.

Seven is probably one of my all time favorite movies. The Social Network is up there also.

Alien 3 gets a lot of shite but I really liked that one. Pretty solid list.

All his movies feel dark and dirty in a good way.

Also, his use of music greatly sets the tone of his films.

He's great

Still have no idea how he settled on World War Z 2 as his next project to direct.

He is one of the few "must-see" directors for me today, along with Nolan, Scorsese, Denis Villeneuve, Inarritu, with guys like Taylor Sheridan and Alex Garland likely to make that list if they keep putting out fantastic movies.

Also, for some reason I thought that Fincher did Nightcrawler, because that had a very Fincher feel to it. I was surprised to find out that he wasn't involved.

I don't know. Unless it involves a superhero or Star Wars, I don't usually use the search function on the M/TV Board.

I don’t blame him for alien 3. Studio was very unfair to him during that film. Rest of that list is outstanding. Particularly Zodiac which is one of the best films of the 2000’s.

I love the way his films look. You rarely see him use any fully saturated color and it gives his movies a very dark and foreboding feel.

the fact that I find The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to be his weakest film really says a lot about how great he is

I like Fincher's work but this movie was awful. Brad Pitt's New Orleans accent was so putrid, as well.

I watched The Game last week. It is still awesome. I'd move it up to just below Social Network on your list.

I think he's a spectacular technical director who also understands human emotions. Which puts him ahead of the usual "technical masters". He's a true great director, and I consider him this generation's Kubrick, if Kubrick didn't hate people.

He’s very good technically but I don’t think he can touch Kubrick. Look at 2001. Kubrick was a genius on the level of Michelangelo or Beethoven.

HOWEVER, Kubrick was a photographer turned director who really never ceased being a photographer. The humans and humanity in general in his films were there as basically accessories to his technical achievements. I think you are correct in that Fincher cares much more about human emotions than Kubrick (who didn’t really care).
