Seems like we haven't done this one in a bit.

Mine:

1- The opening scene of Rome where the Roman legion is maneuvering like clockwork and maintaining their wall of shields (at least until drunk Pullo breaks rank :))

2- Band of Brothers taking the Brecourt Manner battery. Wonderfully filmed and based on a great real life incident. Everything from Winter's simple but elegant plan to Spiers ultra aggressive charge.

3- Battle of the Bastards from GoT. Very well done and the highlight of last season.

4- Saving Private Ryan D-day landing on the beach. Definitely grabs your attention right at the outset of the movie.

5- Final battle in The Last Samurai. I caught this one again couple days ago channel surfing and I was surprised that the battle was actually filmed better than I had remembered.

I like all stated, especially Band of Brothers..

one that comes to mind is from Enemy at the Gates.

It's not a great "battle scene" but I had no idea that the Russians were fighting that desperate of a fight when I first saw it at a young age giving one guy a gun.. and then the next guy a clip .. good luck..

oh.. and if you turn around, we'll shoot you.... crazy

Agree with all mentioned but the helicopter assault in Apocalypse Now is spiritual for me.

The final battle of Gallipoli, just because it was so powerful because being so crazy and inept on communication and disregard of human life and worthless and a sad loss of human life.

Paths of Glory is up there too.

They're not a favorite because they are enjoyable.

But because they reveal truth.

Beside those already mentioned:
Battle in the beginning of Gladiator
Battle Mid-Way (fascinated by aircraft carriers facing off)
Siege and ambush of the English in Last of the Mohicans.
Tora, Tora, Tora.

I was 12 when the Two Towers came out and I saw it in theaters.

Helms Deep was an intense first viewing.

Captain America kicking everyone's arse in the elevator, then taking out the plane in true superhero fashion after jumping out the elevator.

Hacksaw Ridge has jumped near the top of my list. Absolutely brutal.

The recent Russian 'Stalingrad' was pretty amazing too.

Between Guadalcanal, Peleliu and Okinawa, The Pacific had some horrific and very real battle scenes.

of his mother being a selfish bitch and being followed home from church. The way they filmed it as a long take and moved in and out of the house was pretty sweet.
