Never seen it either. I had a friend who used to joke, "What do you call someone who stands in line for 3 hours to watch a cartoon that isn't funny? An Avatard"

No it’s a fair question.. a lot of people ask me that.
I don’t have a valid reason for not seeing some of the classics. Some of my favorites are American Beauty, Brick, Fight Club, Blow, No Country for Old Men, Blue Valentine. I tend to just watch the same ones over and over. For whatever reason, I’ve been averse to watching things from before I was born (1990) but I know that’s doing myself a disservice.
What’s weird is that when any John Wick, for example is on, I’ll watch it every time.
I’m going to make a point to try and immerse myself. Appreciate the suggestions

Okay. Based on your fave list, I would recommend hitting the 60s and 70s classics (Godfather 1&2, the Conversation, French Connection, etc). You will find a lot of gems that would seem to be right up your alley.

Correct. Think about only having read books published after your birth. What all would you have missed.
Maybe not an entirely fair comparison since writing has been around a while longer but still. You are missing out on an unreal amount of the greatest films ever made.

From the stories I've read, it sounds like she had a miserable experience on set and that Hitchcock was obsessed with her.
quote:
She allegedly spent five days filming the scene with live birds being thrown at her and attached to her body with elastic bands. Hedren says she broke down when a bird that had been attached to her shoulder almost pecked her in the eye, and she spent the following week in bed, exhausted.
Hedren suspects that Hitchcock was attempting to punish her for rebuffing his sexual advances.

My goal is to catch up on all of the classics I've avoided all of these years.

I don’t begrudge that take but you are depriving yourself of 60+ years of amazing film making.
I admit to having a fair amount of recency bias in my love for movies, but man, the 60s, 70s, and 80s had some bangers.

Braveheart
Schindler’s List
Back to the Future all the way through
Interstellar
Wall-E
Straight Outta Compton
Of the newer movies beloved by IMDB users, never seen Portrait of a Lady on Fire, A Separation, or Incendies but pretty much everything else.
