the whole series is kinda depressing, but I loved all 4 seasons. I think the Rosie Larsen thing was extended a little too far, but it was still good.
the only thing i didn't like about the Killing was the storyline with her son. I typically hate it when shows deviate from the primary story to focus on something like that. 24 was guilty of it but they had to fill 24 hour-long episodes so it is more understandable.

I just finished Black Spot on amazon prime. I was looking for something French and found it. It's great, though you'd have to deal with subtitles.

Both the original and American remake weren't supposed to be so long.
Especially the Danish version which was only supposed to be 1 season.
American remake planned two seasons, cancelled the show and then added a 3rd and a small 4th.

Agreed.
The story is a murder mystery - I don't need to get to know her personal life to know she has personal problems.
If she is so guarded to reveal anything in the cop car, why is the audience learning about it?

Sharp Objects has been mentioned a few times. Its an HBO show so it is almost automatically better than most, but not sure why its getting mentioned.
There is almost zero detective work and pretty much all about Amy Adams character and her family being crazy.
Then ending is going to be, "o by the way, this person killed them." It's pretty much just a side story.

Big Little Lies was great. Didn't mind the all-female top bill either.
