I remember watching the white lotus and thinking that Theo James would make a great Bond

Is the book Bond said to be built?
No. A description from "From Russia with Love":

...slim build; a 3 in long, thin vertical scar on his right cheek; blue-grey eyes; a "cruel" mouth; short, black hair, a comma of which rests on his forehead.

Out of all these, I think Hiddleston is the best in terms of voice and screen presence.

Has Fassbender been written off for being too old?

I think Craig nails the character as Fleming wrote it.

For a more modern Bond. Not necessarily true to the book Bond. Taylor-Johnson has really beefed up for his latest movie too.

I think Hiddleston and Cumberbatch best fit the description of book Bond.

I'm not a fan of Madden's constant brooding appearance. He has a sort of emo/sad look all the time. Not sure that works for Bond. He doesn't have that debonair handsome look you expect from Bond.

The rumors in the twittersphere is that Nolan is interested, but he wants to do a more book accurate versions, set in the era they were written for.

I know the Book Bond as originally written is a bit different at times than how he has always been portrayed on screen.

Those that are familiar, what say you?

in before Idris Elba, Leslie Jones, etc

Does book Bond chase pussy? If so, then it's a no go. Today's Bond goes to tranny rallies and fights eco-terrorists.

I meant, someone with his frame/build when he first started (Goldeneye).

I think Madden is too Scottish, but he’s quite intense. And that’s true to the books.

I do like the books, they’re fun reads, but Fleming had this dumb fixation on brand names. He has Bond eating breakfast for example, and he makes a point of stating exactly which brand of jam he’s spreading in the toast.

Bale is too old and Engelbert Cumbertits is a no. Hiddleston is too good of an actor not to consider him for the role. Cavill would be fantastic. Do three retro Bond movies with him. I like Madden as an actor, but he isn't Bond. I think Sam Heughan could do well in the part. But if it's Nolan directing, sign Cavill immediately. We don't really need a book accurate actor.

A Scot would never work as Bond, agreed

He's too old now but James Purefoy would have made a great, Connery-like, Bond.

We are all clear that Bond's parents were Scottish and he was raised in the Highlands and went to college in Edinburgh?

I can't tell if you guys were using sarcasm font or not.

I think Skarsgard is just 'too out there' as an actor.

I always thought Jason Isaac would've been a good Bond, but too old now.

This guy?
