Lol it's not even trying to be subtle. Trailer park white people are behind White Supremacist gangs that are at war with the black police in small town america. This is what a hollywood privileged writers interpretation of middle america looks like.

This post didn't age well at all.

That guy is really hoping for representation of the more educated and higher class of white supremacist apparently. He’s tired of these racists dudes getting a bad rap all these years

He was a Nationalist in the worst sense of the word in the comic. Keeping a child's black and white morality view all the way through his vigilante career. The only thing keeping him from being a worse person was he was his own man and never fell under the feet of someone who could turn him into an enforcer for America like a Comedian without introspection.

My guess is that they took the Rorsach journal, and twisted into their own radical world view. I assume the “Redfordations” played a big part in these groups forming and the groups overall distain for the government and hero’s due to what was in the journal.

ETA ironically given the uproar of this thread. The first episode was sort of pro Second amendment and pro blue lives matter in a way

I said I liked it but it was weird and I want to see how they're going to move forward. I did not know about the Tulsa strife in 1921; you got me. I learned something. But, unfortunately, you're still an a-hole with reading comprehension problems.

I wasn't referring to you, it was towards the people who were actually mad just bc of that. I thought your post was more of what the average person was thinking bc you described some floating bubble and then made it seem like you read the comic books. But you're right, my reading comprehension isn't that great I'm also not some history buff but I did know about the black wall street so as I was watching it and right away I was thinking o god this is going to piss off some m/tv board posters for sure.

I'm not bouncing, but I think many, like myself, were just a bit taken aback that the main storyline (through one episode) seems to be racial conflict. If I'm watching a TV show or Movie, I want to enjoy it, I don't really want to sit there and watch a fake racist biopic about a real event in 1921.

Now, the storyline will probably go much deeper, that's why I'm going to watch it. I just really hope the whole plot isn't about political issues and left vs right. We hear about that shite 24/7 in real life, I wish I could watch a show without that.

Fair enough,I get that. I have seriously not watched the news in a year because I'm sick of it. But also, %99 of TV has no racial tension.

Interesting premiere. I liked Don Johnson's character and it seemed he was going to be a driving force but that made his death all the more surprising (but I would have liked to see another episode or two of him to really build him up like a Ned Stark or something).

I think the racism angle is a massive smokescreen. It's big, blatant and they went to it right off the bat. Lindelof is far more of a subtle story builder than that. Using the Tulsa riots as a misdirection would be right up his ally. If it ends up being just about evil whitey, I'll drop the series with the quickness.

An appealing aspect to me is that the while the masked cops thing is dystopian, I can see it as only maybe a half-step from reality in some place like Seattle.

In the Doomsday Clock series we find that Rorschach's journals did indeed get out and at least one person took up his mantle. While this HBO series isn't canon, having a group like the 7th Kalvary glomming onto Rorshach in some way isn't surprising.

While writing this I happened upon an interview the LA Times did with Lindelof and apparently this is series is indeed going to be about racial issues.

Still, Lindelof has earned enough respect from me to give him a few episodes to prove how this series will play out.

I wonder if we will now flashback to see how we got to this point. It would be typical of Lindelof to do that and then take a massive shite on the series once we catch up to present day.

Right now the Lou Gossett Superman character is the most interesting mystery they have going.

I really don't need to see police murdered in their homes to know why they wear masks.

It's a shame that the Soviet and maoist holocausts are not taught in American curriculum

If they were, our media would be way less retarded.

If it wasn't directed at me, then I retract most of my venom. It pissed me off when I thought you were insinuating that I was a dumb racist hick. I'm not a racist.

I expected the comments so far.

Have we commented on the quick shot of Dr Manhattan on Mars yet?

Also, the newspaper said Veidt is dead, but everybody agrees Irons is Veidt, right? And his servants are robots.

Don't think so. I didn't catch what he was building and destroying.

I think that's exactly who Irons is supposed to be. Dr. Manhattan is alive and well, so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that other characters that Moore didn't kill off would still be around.

I just realized Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did the score and are releasing 3 albums of it.

I'll watch it for that alone.
