Season 1 was amazing. The pilot is probably one of my favorite episodes of any shows ever. It was legit scary (even though I know scary isn't exactly what the writers are aiming for). I thought season 2 sucked for the most part and didn't think it'd get any worse but season 3 proved me wrong. I'm turned off by the whole Governor thing. This whole season has dragged. I hope the governor is killed and we start fresh with a new storyline next season for the sake of the show.

Like most other said...it doesnt get any better than Season 1. Season 2 had some really great moments towards the end, but it they are not worth suffering through the majority of the season to get to those moments.

I watched the first few episodes of season 3 and it is really hard to stay interested. The governor is just not a very interesting character and overall I really don't care about anyone but one character.

The first two or maybe three episodes are the best of the series IMO. Season one as a whole isn't that great really. I think overall, the show is very good, but it depends on what you want from the show. If you're looking for lots of action, then you'll be disappointed. If you like slow, deliberate shows with building plots, then you'll prolly like it.

I bitched sometimes about the pace of the show during season two, but I still enjoyed it every week...just like I still enjoy it every week now. I do wish the new storyline would wrap up soon (hopefully in the finale), but overall I think season three has been solid.

But if you've given the show a shot and watched the first season and you don't like it, then it's likely not for you.

I love Zombie flicks but have yet to find any interest in this show. I've tried watching the first episode 3 separate times now, but every time I end up 3/4ths of the way through the episode before I realize I've been sidetracked by YouTube/Internet and have missed the entire episode.

I'm assuming some day I'll get into it, but I haven't thus far.

The major issue with the show is that it cannot become as complex as the source material. The comics had many more characters and time to kill people and have problems arise.

The show has to try and fit character development (non-action) into the shows and has to use more show time to do it.

Ideally though, this is a show about the survival during a zombie apocalypse. The part that people find riveting IS the character development. Mindless action sequences don't yield a ton of character development.

If you want to watch a bunch of zombies being killed, then watch all those crappy movies that came out 10 years ago. If you want character driven drama then watch the Walking Dead.

I know it is such a popular show, but it never looked appealing to me, so I never bothered with it

however, AMC's doing the marathon, and I figured why not give it a run. I did the same with "24" and waited until 4 seasons before I watched one episode and was hooked.

Walking Dead: It was able to keep me interested up until somewhere in the beginning of Season 2....after about the 2nd or 3rd episode where they're on the farm, it dropped off with the quickness. Should I have pushed through? Or is that pretty much par for the course?

I can respect that view. It's not a perfect show by any stretch. The main problem I see with it is that it sometimes veers into being plot driven instead of character driven and in doing so they have some of the characters act in ways that just don't ring true.

Having said that, I enjoy the show. It's one of the very few I make a point of watching each week. I like post apocalyptic shows, with people wandering around in a greatly depopulated landscape, and this one envisions a world with very few people but most of the existing infrastructure pretty dang well in my view. The show has also managed to keep me invested in a least a few of the main characters (ie: Rick, Darryl and Carl mostly) so that's a plus from my point of view.

Really? I feel that the TV show has way more characters. For example, merel, daryl, t-dawg,the black women from the first season, and the guy from the disease lab

I like that it doesn't follow the books.
No one who read them knows what is up. Last season spent most of its time looking for a character who never died in the books. So I think no one is safe. For a drama on TV that takes place in the ZA, it does very very well.

That is exactly where I quit. People said the show really picked up steam after that, but I have been lurking the current season threads, and people are complaining that the show is boring (or boring again) or slow. Glad I quit and stayed quit.

It's not about zombie action. Its about I don't want to watch Seinfeld-esque show about nothing on a farm with a bunch of characters I don't like who consistently make bad decisions.

I prefer character and story development type shows. But it seemed as though the writers were having a really difficult time finishing an arc

It seems as though the scriptwriter went:

character development, dialogue, mystery, devious intentions, good, good, keep going......

(oh shite, I dont know where to go with this)

insert gratuitous zombie scene

(hopefully by now the viewer has forgot/lost interest in that last plot development)

NEW character development, dialogue, good, good, keep going.....

(umm....frick)

insert gratuitous zombie scene

It's definitely pretty hit or miss with character development, but the story devlops pretty slowly and is drawn out for weeks. Some people like that, some don't. I'm somewhere in the middle, but some of the episodes recently haven't really advanced the story very much, but were still really enjoyable for me.

But like I said, if you watched season one and aren't liking it, then it's prolly not for you.
