Ummm... I'm going to give it a fair shot but even that small clip doesn't feel like the book at all.

Also, looks like they're fast running zombies and cgi'd as frick. Reminds me of the wolf warriors in the Mummy Returns.

I love a good zombie movie though so I'm sticking to expecting a good zombie flick and not a good adaptation of World War Z.

Me either. I don't know how they can make a movie off that book.

They could do the movie from the perspective of the narrarator and go interview people about the onset of the war to the end.

Just do far fewer of the stories.

I am FAR more bothered they went total 28 days later.

I can handle the speed.

The one bite and moving on aspect, plus the very rapid turning.....

frick that.

Not even close. POSSIBLE BOOK SPOILERS:

Correct me if I am wrong, but in the book wasn't one of the most successful and widely used tactics against the zombies when infantry companies would line up in a massive square out in an open field, then draw the zombies in with noise and pick them off as they slowly shamble in over the span of several hours? I mean, I distinctly remember where shooters on the firing line would take breaks to get a drink or take a piss, etc, then head back to shooting.

No way in hell that premise (which is pretty fricking central to the book - modern technology isn't effective so they have to go back to old-school tactics like Civil War-style firing lines) can work with "cgi zombie tidal wave moving so fast they knock over a fricking greyhound bus". I mean, that looks like it can make for a pretty damn cool zombie movie, but World War Z it aint.

I don't understand the point of bastardizing the source material. There is a way to make a book as good as WWZ into a good movie. You don't need to change the key elements and make it WWZ in name only. If you want to make a CGI, fast moving zombie movie, great, do that, but don't co-opt the WWZ name in the hopes of drawing a bigger crowd.

first of all, let me say that i do not like fast zombies. The zombies in this movie appear to be the worst i have seen in a movie. They appear to run faster than any living human can. That is just silly.

Holy F*ck Balls. This looks like the biggest sh*tfest since the last time George Romero stepped behind a camera. Looks like they took floodwaters from the Day After Tomorrow added limbs, and made Jedi-sprinting "zombies." Just terrible.

Yeah, that's a more accurate description than the Mummy stuff.

I've watched the clip a few more times and I'm just shaking my head. Why the frick would they make such a huge change to the zombies? It makes zero sense...

Good movie or not, it looks like they should have made a zombie movie based on whatever that was in the preview and left "World War Z" alone for a movie that actually resembled some semblance of a small vestige of anything sort of like the book...

"Only one man can save the world".

Crap.

Sigh. Fast zombies. Oh well. There was one moment when the Zombies came flowing down stairs like water. Looked dumb as hell. No showdown in the desert? I guess one of the clips could be interpreted as the Battle of Yonkers? Brad Pitt running from CGI.....wow. SWING and a miss.

Fast moving zombies are a huge mistake. IIRC the book went into detail about how a zombie's muscles deteriorated over time due to exposure to the environment which caused them to move slow. Also, I remember the book stating that their vision sucked because of the lack of eye moisture.
