Yeah frick that.
Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe that clip.
Making this movie is easy. You have the central character (Pitt) interviewing everyone from the conflicts all over the world, and the entire story is told via flashbacks. Gets wrapped up by mashing together multiple flashbacks on how humans adapted and learned how to handle the zombies and word spreading on how to take them out. Movie ends on a high note of rebuilding the world as we once knew it.
That could be done pretty easily IMO, and with zombies as we all know and love them. It doesn't have to be "OMG let's amass as many zombies as our CGI computers will allow and make them lightning fast and super strong."
I'll still reserve some excitement for this, because the book was so good (and I rarely read books), but that sneak peak was borderline insulting. I was really having high hopes for Yonkers and hoping they would do the Atchafalaya story as well...that could've been VERY awesome.

I'm beginning to think that an HBO limited series with an ep per chapter or two would actually be better than a single movie. Basically like Band of Brothers but for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Keep the interview theme to open each ep and for dramatic breaks throughout.
It could be done very well.

Agreed, but that wouldn't make the same money as a theatrical release.
An HBO mniseries would be perfect for something like this.

That would be the best way, by far, to adapt WWZ. If you have to do it in film form, there's ways to pull it off. As has been mentioned, you cut out a few stories or maybe a trilogy.
What's going to happen is, this movie will make some money but probably not hit the studio estimates. In hindsight, seeing how well Walking Dead is doing, the HBO series route probably would've been more successful for them.

yeah, I just watched the clip again, and that might be one of the worst big budget movie clips I've seen in a long time.
I was really excited about this movie because I'm a sucker for the faux doc style movies with narrators and I just assumed that is how they would do it.

I just want to punch the moron who read the bit about how strongholds would simply be overwhelmed by sheer numbers (weight of zombies pressing taking out fences, corpses making ramps, etc) and came up with THAT and thought it was a good enough idea to pass along.
Isn't Pitt the main driving force of this? His production company even?
Think ego played a role to fundamentally change his character from a passive compiler of stories to an active one?

that looks like complete shite

Good Lord, that looks terrible. I had high hopes for this movie when it was first announced, but my enthusiasm has been waning for a while now and this just puts the final nail in the coffin.

The only thing the book and the movie will have in common will be the title

Yep. It's worse than I thought. If I fell asleep in a tree in this movie, I'd wake up to zombies pole vaulting up to me.
frick this shite.

Liked the aspect of running zombie types in 28 days later.
This seems retarded...and doesn't follow the spirit of Brooks' book at all.

Horrible
Re-watched the trailer and when I see the zombie scenes all I can think of is explosive diarrhea.

Yeah but in 28 Days it worked because they were in far fewer numbers. It still had that creepy vibe you want in a zombie movie.
This feels more like the end of the world Gylenhall movie or something.

Mother of God....Zombies struck at the same time as global warming.
