Plenty of people care that you may not be thinking about as this strike impacts more than the writing rooms. Productions are shut down and vendors are losing their livelihoods and some are shutting down business(prop houses, caterers, etc.) .... drivers, carpenters, painters, electricians and the like are sitting at home waiting this out. Certainly not left wing "Hollywood"nuts as some might describe the industry. They are hard working contributors with families.

And of course ... the at least a half of dozen industry posters on this site. And the thousands of Louisiana residents struggling in BR and NOLA.

sure .. there are thousands of options to watch on the streaming services and yes, it's football season. But to cheer and jeer at the situation is a bit boorish.

1. There's already a shite ton of content for people to watch and Hollywood hasn't put out many good movies over the past 6-7 years.

you will care when you are waiting 2-3 years between seasons of shows you like.

and some like Winning Time are cancelled because of gaps like that

You enjoy waiting 3 years between your shows? Or are you one those people who hates tv yet are on a tv board?

I won’t cheer and jeer, but spare us the boo hoo shite. You take a Union job, this is something that happens. You know going in.

There is a virtually endless catalogue of already existing shows and movies, plus a reliable stream of independent content coming out across the entire spectrum of entertainment media. I dont hate tv or movies, but I also don't rely solely on the mostly preachy garbage content coming out of Hollywood. I also have other hobbies that don't include television watching so if there is a good show put out by these writers and I'm forced to wait years between seasons, I won't care.

But I do give you credit for framing your question in a way that is impossible to answer directly, I.e. "have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

It’s not a boo hoo situation. It’s more of a gfy and quit cascading uninformed barbs against the industry of some people on this board who are not Hollywood elite. It’s more complicated than you realize …. And if you aren’t in a union you can’t work on a feature film of scale. And btw - I’m okay with my union assuring a 4.2 k minimum a week salary, zero monthly payments for healthcare, a pension, 401 k and paid holidays. We aren’t crying - just calling out the nunbnuts on this board who sit at their desktops acting like they know anything about the business.

I'm sure you would!

I'd like to think you're being sarcastic, but doesn't seem like it.

No, I was referring to the pending "new" writing coming out of Hollywood writers. I have not had a TV show preach to me since they when on strike. As far as I am concerned, they can stay on strike.

Sorry. I misunderstood. Gotcha now.

this attitude is exactly why no one cares about the business. hollywood entertainment is a LUXURY ITEM.

and i'm sorry for these union workers or whatever, but they knew what they were getting into. you pick up a snake and get bit, well, sorry but snakes bite.

I could go a year or two without new content and still have new to me stuff to watch

I'm sure I could too and especially since I like to re-watch stuff. But it is pushing back seasons that already had long gaps in between them like House of the Dragon and Stranger Things (in 2025 those actors are going to look like they're in their mid 30's by then). The Boys, which would have been close to wrapping up is suspended indefinitely. Euphoria won't be until 2025 now. Andor, Hacks, etc. Those are just some random of many similar examples but then you have shows that are going to be straight up cancelled because of it.

Movies I don't care as much about as far as waiting but it does suck when you have a movie like Dune Pt. 2 that was already a long wait is now even further out.

It's not some burden but I would defiantly rather them writing than I would not. Regardless of the political crap that will come out, I can easily not watch those.
