I heard so many great things about House of Cards and then I got to it and was bored out of my mind. I think I was Kevin Spacey'd out because I couldn't stand to look at his face and his attempts to be charismatic, witty, and clever were just painful to me.
Also Game of Thrones. I didn't get it. I could understand it being a teen thing because of the violence and sex but not a global phenomenon. I got through 2 seasons waiting for it to click and I realized I was dreading sitting down for an hour trying to understand what everybody else was talking about

Better Call Saul. I watched the first two episodes, but just couldn't get into it.

quote:I'd give it another go if I were you. I stumbled upon The Expanse and it truly took me almost through the first season to start to get into it. I know a lot of people are kinda meh on the 2nd season and it loses them. But it's a great buildup for season 3. It lost some luster for me after S3, but was still good to finish.
hard to explain because i should like it, its right in my wheelhouse. it just bored me...i wasn't interested in what was happening
I'd recommend watching through S3.

Expanse. I did the same first time after 4-5 episodes. It’s weirdly a very slow addiction but once you’re in it’s just non-stop shite going on.
I wouldn’t even call it a “slow burn” because shite is happening, it’s just so much broad shite it takes a while to give a damn about what’s happening.

Boston Legal mid way thru season 4. Almost Every episode is a repeat of S 1 or 2.

The Americans - was already DV into oblivion for this, was just too slow. I did push through and finish S3 in case I decide to circle back
Pysch - Stopped when it was live, but in a rewatch and see if I lose interest
Blindspot & Quantico - wanted to like them, but after the 1st series just lost interest
Bones - Don't recall why, on my list to give it another shot
Suits - Just lost interest

yeah I think there’s a big difference between starting a show and giving up early and the show itself running too long to hold interest. Weeds is a great example of that. Once the show “left” agrestic it went downhill fast, bailing out then isn’t really giving up on it. It was a completely different show at that point

quote:This for me. Once Rick left, I lost all interest. Obviously an apocalyptic show is gonna kill off a lot of people you are invested in but you can't kill off everyone. I had no interest in the new characters they tried to replace originals with.

they killed off rick because the actor wanted to leave, not much you can do about that. same with michonne and a few others.
the gripe i have in that vein is that they made poor decisions on the elective deaths, abraham and jesus in particular. those were well developed and well acted character parts, that viewers had an affinity for. and i agree that the new characters are not that interesting
its a catch-22 for shows like this. daryl/carole are both still around and we complain about plot armor. but when other characters we like are killed, it weakens the show
