TV show from about 12 years ago - entire world blacked out

It was an ABC show. Th first episode, the entire blacked out for 2 mins (if not longer). Anyone remember the name of this show?

Flash Forward, that was it. It was only 8 years ago.

I liked that show. It had a great story, but just kind of faultered. I think it was during the writers' strike.

I actually liked it, and I like Fiennes, but man, some terrible scenes in this.

Lead character was the worst actor I have ever seen.

I was so excited about that show, but I almost stopped watching it because the acting was so piss poor.
