Mahershala Ali says:

quote:

“I think (series creator) Nic Pizzolatto wrote a finale that is out of this world,” Ali told us before “True Detective” premiered. “It’s so, so good. Everyone I know just wept over it.”

Still disappointed season 1 turned out to be a Lethal Weapon reboot

Sans absolute disaster finale, season 3 will be superior

I have increasingly begun to worry that Roland is in on it all along and finale is going to involve Roland and Wayne killing each other in a shootout or some such.

People have been trying to make Roland the bad guy all season long, and I don’t get it. He has been the most likable, most reasonable person on the show. I honestly believe it’s because he is the white guy opposite the black main character. And as we all know in these times, white man clearly means bad. There is literally no other reason to suspect him of being corrupt.

I totally agree (well, with your premise, but not with the SJW slam part of it, as I don't think it has anything to do with race) which is why I really hope this doesn't happen. I won't find it to be a believable ending at all.

That being said, it's Occam's Razor for Hoyt knowing almost immediately what they did that night in the barn.

Once again, I hope it's not the case. I hope they have another plausible explanation, because Roland being "turned" would be a disappointment.

Either old Roland faked his reaction when Hayes told him Hoyt confronted him. Or Hoyt only confronted Hayes.

But then why would Hoyt only confront Hayes about Harris James and not Roland as well?

I almost never bring up shite like that. It’s just a thought I had as to why I kept hearing and reading people try to make him the bad guy. Figured maybe it’s just a subconscious reaction to how things are now, because within the show, plot wise it doesn’t make sense.

I’ve been wondering what the catch was surrounding this. They still haven’t said why Lori left Roland after events of 90. From what I understand, when purple left the force it really fricked Roland over. So I could see Hoyt using this as a way to create a rift between them and maybe even frick over roland’s career at the same time. Roland was very adamant about how they were doing their own thing that the department didn’t know about. If any of this came to light it would be his arse

It’s definitely a good change in dynamic between Errol as the primary villain in S01 and Hoyt being the big time high roller. Dude had them on speed dial the moment they started getting anywhere. I think the finale will be more character driven, ala the porch scene between purple and west. The porch scene is one of the best heart to heart moments I’ve seen in TV in a while

I am actually watching the first 7 episodes this week. I am on episode 3 right now, but I want to make sure I am up to date on everything before the finale.

I don't have any expectations for the finale. I just want to watch it without thinking this or that could happen and then it be a let down because something else happened, but I do think there will be a lot of information we learn..

I think this season has the potential to be the best TD. I believe nic knew he needed to save a lot for the finale this time and it should be satisfying but not in a "twist" kind of way guess is it will be emotional.

As slow as the actual plot had been this season he definitely saved a lot for the end.
