In the first meet between CF and VV it seemed like that could be the case. In the second one, it doesn't seem like VV would have the same incentive to act caring towards CF. He's already under VV's control
VV was feeling CF out in that scene - trying to determine "something".
VV looked more concerned with himself - along the lines of "is this guy a threat to go off the rails? am I going to have to put him down?"

The missing girl and the bike cops girlfriend are two different actresses with different names on IMDB.

Yep. No way you get that high in the ranks by genuinely caring about people you manipulate to serve your own interests
Eta- assuming the "rapist" given to CF wasn't the actual guy (think it's a pretty safe assumption at this point)

Glad we wasted 20 pages on that

this thread has made me realize that I absolutely need to watch again. I was coming down a bit from an early afternoon drunk and was dozing some and I feel like I know the main overall synopsis but there are so many little things I missed based on this thread.

They did it on purpose to frick with people like me
So what about the drug girl?

It was if they just hired a couple cleaning to play multiple parts in nearly every scene.

Todd VanDerWerff over at Vox really hates this show.
The 31 Most Ridiculous Moment of the True Detective Premiere.
He's previously bashed the show, so I find his commentary simply silly and fun to laugh at.

True Detective's season two premiere, "The Western Book of the Dead," is a ridiculous, ridiculous episode of television
It's so in love with its own self-seriousness that it forgets to tell a story, and by the midpoint of the episode, it had me rolling with its frequently glowering performances and pointlessly weighty dialogue. I've seen two more episodes that are both better than this one (if only marginally so), but this episode marks a new low point for the franchise. It's dumb, dumb, dumb.

I enjoyed it. Seems that the intellectual hip thing to do is bash the premiere.

She has an aggressive omnisexual feel. Like when she is DTF it really doesn't matter what when where or whom. Reminds me of the female character from The Bridge that has autism or something.

I think she had to been into some bondage, violent or rape play shite

Actually she said it was like two erasers "clapping together." Like erasers for a chalk board. Totally different insinuation.

Yea what does that even mean? I even looked it up.
Is that like a version of scissors?

what a terrible writeup. I mean, I get that some people will hate the show and that's fine, but the article was entirely too "buzzfeed"-y. I like how it's called "the 31 most ridiculous moments", yet 3 of the "moments" are phrases from the same sentence. Gotta stretch it out to get the requisite 31 moments! Also one of the "most ridiculous" moments is a compliment of a shot of the scenery. How outrageous!

Ca deterred seems like a insufferable bitch who just hates on what's popular. What's his favorite show? Was there anything to like about this one?
Posted on 6/22/15 at 2:02 pm to WG_Dawg
He's absolutely right about too much exposition. The scene with Ani and her dad really was terrible...that'll probably be a case study on how NOT to write a scene in film schools across the country for the next several years.
