What in the wide world of phuck are you all talking about??? I believe this shows portrayal of certain women has been spot on and there is no adgenda. Prostitutes and low income women generally act just as they have been shown to act in this series. These are not women who's daddy's belonged to New Orleans CC. The doctor that Rust dated was not portrayed as weak. I think some of you are really reaching to complain about the way women are portrayed on this show.
I'm not "complaining" about anything. Women on the show are weak most of the time - it's used a storytelling device so Maggie can redeem herself (and surely other things will happen in the last 2 eps).
It's not just the prostitutes that act weak - Maggie's mom, Maggie herself (until recently), Marty's side pieces, women who fetch Marty coffee in the morning... they all act like submissive, owned, women.
Again, it is what it is. It's theme. I see the impact on the storytelling and why it exists - it's all fine and I'm not complaining.
I could see how it could be viewed as misogynistic tho - to each his own.

it's tough having this discussion with people from an area of conservative social values, though
the best revenge is living well
This for a completely different thread of it's own.

conservative social values
which is the cause of most divorces. But that's neither here nor there.

i quit after the 1st episode of this season. the writers have obviously been told to cater to the LCD.

People like her who are strong and independent don't last long with people like the main characters on the show.

as the story unfolds it's becoming more predictable/cliche/boring
If you really think that then it just means you're unfamiliar with Southern Noir.

Do any of you look down the page to the Walking Dead thread and just go, "meh"?
HBO has me completely spoiled with TD and GoT. I can't watch shows like WD anymore.

not saying that I think Lori has anything to do with the rest of the story.....
But the green eared spaghetti monster had less time and in the end, that's who ends up being the focus of the case.

I've got 2 episodes left in Season 4 (last season) and I'm having trouble getting through it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3. But this next one and from what I understand, this season, is getting a little slow.

the reality has stayed pretty level. real good, but not special.
95% better than any thing else on TV. Perhaps your standards are mostly unattainable for the vast majority of shows?

I know that feel.
You have to just go in knowing it wont be as good and lower expectations.
Its tough to watch any kind of network show after watching a couple True Detective episodes.

Its a goddamn shame that Boardwalk Empire isn't listed there.

female empowerment should be done without using sex to get there, though
she crossed her final boundary to cut ties with him. and to deliver the kill shot to her marriage she taunted him with her description of her betrayal
She was married to the guy for a long time, she tried everything to get through to him, reason with him, change him and it all failed. She lived without him for a time, and she missed him so much she forgave his betrayal. So no matter how much she loved him, he was destined to hurt her so she put a bullet in his head in the most painful way possible with the one person she knew he could never forget

looking back on things, the last season of BE was really nothing special. seasons 1 and 3 were great TV. 2 and 4 were good or ok.

This coming up season will be the last.
But to be fair, I'm not sure what else could be done. I mean, a spinoff about Capone would be FANTASTIC.
Again, another subject for another thread.
