Ginger and his gang don't seem like they are ones to just let someone set them up/use them and then say "ah yeah, it's cool"
So Ginger is supposed to tell them he's been with the cops for a few days after a ghetto shootout and that they just let him go? They wouldn't be inclined to question how Ginger avoided murder charges?

so why is this rich and powerful cult hanging out with lowlifes like reggie ledoux and that other whack job from prison. cant they call heisenberg to get their meth?

Can anyone confirm that Reggie Ledoux's hideout/cook shack was in Alluvial City/Shell Beach/Yscloskey area in St. Bernard Parish? The barren/desolate trees (looked stripped of everything) and the gas plant in the distance looked like the one in Yscloskey... $.02
Yep. Give away was going through the flood wall on the highway.
This is a little bit of a change of pace, but let's look back at Tuttle for a minute. If Tuttle is involved, which I believe him to be, then my question is why? What does Tuttle have to gain from all of this? Say he was using Ledoux as a cook/fall guy/whatever, and he's the corrupt political top on all of this story. What is his motivation? I can't figure it out.

Yes or no: Have we seen the person who is the Yellow King yet in any episode thus far?
Although there are compelling theories, I'm going to say we haven't seen him (or her) on screen yet.

Most of your original fears regarding pacing
what fears about pacing ? i enjoyed the pacing of ep1
or do you mean my worries a few weeks ago about how they weren't going to leave enough time for the "present"?
quote:
You're viewing the "present" and the Lake Charles murder as a entirely different story line, when in fact it is all part of the same arc.
i understand it's one overall story, but both parts require development. we're not even done fully developing the "past" (anything up to the interviews, namely the recent introduction of marty's domestic issues and the larger issue of the falling out)
Rust either knows who the killer(s) is/are at the time of the interview or he doesn't. assuming he doesn't know, there isn't much time for him to investigate and discover who this is without a lot of "help"
one possibility is that rust already knows who the killer(s) is/are, and he's doing the interview in the "present" to feel out where the cops are currently (and/or to see if they're involved). that, just as an example, could get around the issue with time remaining

To rid society of heathens, gothic/degenerate occultists.

yeah it makes no sense
his gang KNOWS his crew tried to rob some drug dealers, killed some people, and got killed.
his gang KNOWS their meth connect just got busted by the cops and killed
his gang not only had to see the "new guy" at the party, but also remember marty caused a scene

Yep. Give away was going through the flood wall on the highway.
quote:Tuttle is the rich man or one of the men, at least. He's the puppeteer calling all the shots. I haven't gone back much in this thread but I'm sure that's been mentioned.
let's look back at Tuttle for a minute.
And whoever said people are looking into the mythology of Carcosa or what have you may be on it. The reddit community has blown the theories out of proportion.
I think Marty and Rust staged the fall out in 2002 so Rust could go back undercover, only to reappear to get drawn back in 2012. His storage shed has all of his evidence he's been collecting. I'm sure this has all been discussed in pages prior.

This is what I was thinking - but using heathens and gothic/degenerate occultists (Ledoux) to rid society of the same?
It can't be money. If he were interested in money then the show would be about some other drug.

I'm going to guess that Rust knows, or has a very good idea who the King in Yellow is during the interviews

Anybody got a gif of fatboy exploding yet?
also, the king in yellow
Think about it.
1. First victim was by a tree
2. What are the little cages made of... wood
3. Carcosa is an anagram of Orca Sac

This is in line with what I've been thinking. I like it.

Rust lets Ginger go because he doesn't care what happens to Ginger.

That's what I assumed. Killing him is a bigger risk than releasing him is. Ginger has nowhere to go.
Posted on 2/17/14 at 9:48 am to SW2SCLA
And neither should we care about Ginger.

i never got this, either...same as using occult and killing to do...God's work?
the archetype of the "rich occultist" is typically linked to a secret society like the illuminati or freemasons, and the reason why the archetype has lased so long in our western consciousness is b/c it's anti-christian and seen a threat to the dominant religion of the culture
tuttle may just be one big fraud, but that adds another large layer of complexity that would need to be discussed. i'd hope it would get more than one scene to flesh out, especially with me being hopeful that we could see tuttle react to stimuli related to either his cult or christianity
