True blood (IMO) is the most overrated show on tv. There aren't even any likable characters

I can appreciate that perspective. I like Bill, Eric and Jessica not because they are "good guys" but rather because they tend to blur the distinction between good and evil with decent acting. I think a lot of current popular shows on TV are attractive because they appeal to a similar theme. After all if a vampire can kill, live and love then it makes even the worst of human-kind feel a little bit better about themselves.

I find it's a mix of truly good and truly, *truly* awful. But the really good ones cancel out the really bad ones, dontcha think? Well, maybe Tara's really, really bad one does put them over the line... but you get Eric's cool, hint-o-Viking accent, so that's a plus I guess... In the books, Pam is from London, so I don't know why they felt the need to give her a Georgia drawl, but hers is one of the less-offensive Southern accents, anyway. Renee had one of the better Cajun accents I have heard portrayed in TV ever, and Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette) could be from Louisiana, I went to high school with 2 dozen guys who talked just like him.

Agreed. Which, since his character was supposed to be faking that accent, means he had an excuse to not have a truly authentic accent. Ironical?

Agree. Jessica is just smokin' hot and I forgot about Pam, also one of my favorites; very hot for an older vampire.

I think there needs to be a petition site dedicated to this.

true blood is one of my favorite shows. You have to go into it with an open mind though. And realize its fiction. Too many people critique the accents and what not, and say Louisiana isnt like that.

For you, def watch some of the entourages they have on demand that is a great show for guys.

East bound and down is my second favorite series.

Then yes board walk empire is also a must.

I also would suggest watching deadwood. They only had 3 seasons, but it is a great show imo and they have some on demand rt now.

HBO is def worth it.

Please explain this to me? Jason is a spitting image of all my male friends from monroe area. I grew up in GA, my neighbor here in baton rouge is from south GA, he has one of the strongest accents i have ever came across. People actually talk like that.

Here is the thing, the people that dont like it cant wrap one simple thing around their brain. This show is made to be over the top, so over the top accents are fitting.

Jason does have a spot-on North LA accent. Sookie is less spot-on. See? they cancel each other out.

I'm really amazed by how good Renee's accent was. No one ever gets cajun right--infact, the vast majority of actors never even attempt cajun/South LA/NOLA accents. Watch any movie set in NOLA or the bayou--they either sound like the worst southern accents you can imagine, or just midwestern newscasters (their regular voices). Anyone south of Alexandria with a southern accent has moved from somewhere else IRL

A&E did an adaptation of James Lee Burke's Heaven's Prisoners a few years back where Alec Baldwin nailed it as Dave Robichaux.

Agree 100%. Jason's accent is flawless; you would never suspect that Ryan Kwanten was an Aussie in real life. Comparable to the the man who plays Rene Lenier; he's from Michigan!

Anna Paquin's accent sucks (it comes off as overly hick). Stephen Moyer's sounds over-pronounced but I figure that he's trying to emulate the Southern accent of the mid 1800s.

I've known a few North Louisiana girls who sound overly hick IRL.

The only thing that really pissed me off about Season 3 was the portrayal of Calvin Norris. He was the most honorable character in the entire series of books. They turned him into a backwoods meth dealer.
