I had never seen an episode. I showed up in the middle of someone watching a few episodes today.

As for the show, it could be really entertaining and really terrible all at once.
My biggest problem w/it is that it had a terrible habit of building up an interesting story arc during the season but then it would nearly always be wrapped up in a very quick and unsatisfying way.
I think the best show to compare it to in that regard is American Horror Story.

I watched the first couple of seasons on deployment back in 2010-11. It started pretty enjoyable but I recall it going off the rails by season two or three.

The first three or so seasons are mostly based on the books, but by I think season 4 the link to the source material is very, very thin to non existent.

season 1 and 2 were ok enough. season 3 got pretty bad. i didnt go any further and heard it got pretty damn stupid toward the end.
