Rise was way better than expected. Very enjoyable.

I like war a lot. Some rehashing and not so subtle imagery. It’s what I thought dawn would be, but falls into the easy “humans are the bad guy” story that dawn surprisingly avoided

I think dawn is a standout though

Caesar is one of the best movie heroes in the past decade, maybe more. His character is more interesting and fleshed than any Marvel superhero. Its a shame Andy Serkis was never nominated for an Oscar. He was that good.

I still haven't seen War of the Planet of the Apes. I need to get around to that. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was easily my favorite of the first two. That scene where Caesar talks for the first time had everyone in my theater gasping.

I loved it. I don't think I loved War as much as Dawn, but definitely liked War a lot. I need to give it another viewing. But yeah, Dawn was definitely awesome.

I get so confused between Dawn and Rise on which is which.

But Dawn is great with Koba. Definitely my favorite of the trilogy.

They definitely screwed up the naming of the first two LOL. It's as if they hadn't planned it out yet, but the first should have been Dawn and the second one Rise.

I loved the first two, but the last one was a miss for me.

Spoilers

Yeah the trailers made it seem like it was All-Out war but the “war” lasted like 10 min and barely included the apes.

Freaking love DotPotA. Extremely underrated. Koba is a fantastic viklian. One my favorite movies of the last ten years easily.

Thanks for this thread, I feel like I'm the only person who loves this movie.

One of the only trilogies where all three installments are great. It doesn't get nearly enough recognition.

one of my favorite things about the apes trilogy is that each movie was unique and they didn't rehash previous movies...would've been nice if star wars did the same thing.

i only really like Dawn. War is okay and Rise is meh. didn't get the love for Rise at all.

Dawn on the other hand had great tension, scenery, and story.

i sympathize with every character, including Koba and Gary Oldman. each one of them was just doing what they thought was the right thing for the survival of their species and i don't know that any of them were wrong. i also felt a lot of pain when ceasar and the quentin taratino looking dude were coming to grips that their friendship couldn't inspire the others to live together. heartbreaking scene.
