Those are good ones.

Atticus Finch & Michael Corleone make my second 5. Along with Quint (Jaws), Jefferson Smith (Mr. Smith Goes To Washington) and Lt Col Frank Slade (Scent of a Woman).

Those are all good. T.E Lawrence from Lawrence of Arabia should be up there.

How can some of yall say you haven't seen any of those movies all of them are considered top of all time.

Judah Ben-Hur "Ben-Hur"

Atticus Finch "To Kill a Mockingbird"

Tom Joad "The Grapes of Wrath"

Charles Foster Kane, "Citizen Kane

Rick Blaine, "Casablanca"

1. Jake LaMotta - Raging Bull
2. Ethan Edwards - The Searchers
3. Man With No Name - The Dollars Trilogy
4. Terry Malloy - On the Waterfront
5. J. J. Gittes - Chinatown

It seems silly to leave off Welles and Bogart but I didn't want my list to be too much like yours.

Nicholson confuses me. Thought about Gittes, but don't even think it's Jack's best role. I like McMurphy (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) better plus I think Buddusky in The Last Detail is his best character ever. If he had been in only one of these I might have picked it. You are a better man than I for being able to choose.

I considered that one as well. All of the actors in my list could be considered for multiple roles. I considered putting DeNiro on there twice to include his role as Travis Bickle.

that name also went through my processor during the five minutes I used before posting.

I also thought about Judah Ben-Hur. Prince/Slave/Avenging Chariot Champion all in one flick!
