Some of these were cancelled a long time ago. Thats a pretty typical amount for the period of time covered.

Boomers love that shite. I can’t even convince my grandma to watch those shows in streaming to skip the commercials

It did have some editing issues (some "action" scenes went on longer than they should), but I liked 1899.

I think that the ending was fine as-is for a one-off season. Without spoiling, a second season had practically infinite possibilities, which is a tough place to be in unless you have writers with a legit plan. I think that it was going to turn into a "Lost: situation where the showrunners just start making shite up on the fly without an endgame.

I'm glad 1899 at least had something of an explanation and season wrap-up.

It seems like a lot of streaming shows are still premised on the idea that the platform will give everyone 2 or 3 seasons to build an audience, so they take their time introducing characters and slowly setting up cliff-hangers. It's clear that not many are going to be given that luxury now, so they're going to have start writing series like extended movies or mini-series if they want to generate 1st season buzz.

Still surprised 1899 didn't get more time because of the people involved with Dark.

Yeah, I think people are forgetting that shows got the axe all the time, back when almost everything was on network tv. Every season, there was a list of new shows on the major networks, and a couple coming to cable and syndication (USA, SyFy, TBS, WGN etc). Most didn't make it, a few did, and then some would wrap up even if successful (and the actors wanted to move on).
Now, instead of 4 networks and a few syndicated shows on cable, there's probably at least a dozen different options to get a show out there, and a more split audience.

Not a wrestling fan so I never saw, and don't care about Heels, but your quote here is either great, or what we'd expect from a wrestling fan.

The show is about two brothers taking over their father's business and the conflicts from being in that industry and trying to turn the business around while dealing with each other.

Professional wrestling is merely the environment with very little taking place inside the ring, it's far more about what goes on behind the scenes.

Admittedly, it's a LOT of fun for wrestling fans (especially those old enough to recognize some of the stories they are pulling from) but strip away that it involves wrestling in any way and you still have some solid acting, fun characters and great conflicts/resolutions.

The only one of these I've viewed, and only viewed a part of, is the Grease musical thing. It was kind of unwatchable. Every question in the dialogue was answered with a singing/dance number. Not sure who thought that was a good idea. But that's what they went with.

I'd like to check out 1899 at some point, atleast the pilot. Kinda curious about Wonder Years. I've only heard of about ten of these shows. I imagine that marketing a show in the modern world of streaming is nearly impossible.

Curios as to why NCIS and its 7 versions are so popular? It’s not on a pay per view service and its not a reality show. There are still some old schoolers like myself that don’t have multiple subscriptions to shite( I have Prime only just because we purchase regular there).

I think you offer a major answer to your own question in point out it’s on a free broadcast channel that is available to everyone.

-There are still plenty of “old schoolers” who have yet to expand into the stream universe.

-I’d add that CBS advertising the show during NFL and College Football games helps.

-Syndication familiarizes new audience

-The fact that it’s already developed
fans over 20 seasons.

In general, it’s an easy show to tune in to for and be entertained with a whodunnit that wraps up in a hour.

I personally haven’t watched a new episode of the show in 4-5 years.
I got rid of DirectTV over three years ago and prior to that, might have occasionally caught a few episodes channel surfing or during a one-off day where a marathon happened to be on. Paramount is one of the streaming services I have, but I have never watched an episode on there.

I am much bigger fan of the original Law & Order, a show with a similar dynamic.
