Buck Taylor. Played Turkey Creek Jack in Tombstone. Eight years on Gunsmoke as deputy Newly O'Brien.
Harry Carey Jr. Played Marshal Fred White in Tombstone. Cowboy actor going back to the 1940's. Picked up where his dad left off (He'd been a cowboy actor going back to 1910). The Careys were John Ford's go-to cowboys for two generations.

it was really Kurt who directed it, but he wanted credit to go around.
Even more reason to think Kurt Russell is one of the most awesome dudes in Hollywood

It's up there with Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Godfather on the rewatchabity scale.
Absolutely. I saw it on last night, DVR'd it. Told my wife "I'll be up later".

Hard to argue. Amazing resume, ultimate cool. I mean--come on!--in his first scene on film he kicked Elvis in the shin!
Scene from "It Happened at the World's Fair" 1963

Any time I get frustrated with my friends, I use the “It’s like I’m (insert activity here) with my brothers kids or something!”

Any time the Ole lady says I’ve had too much too drink, I bust out “nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself”

Kurt has the director fired the day before shooting or a few days into shooting for incompetence.
Director to Kurt: “something on your mind?”
Kurt: “just wanted to let you know you’re sitting in my chair”

Couple weeks ago playing cards I needed an Ace to come out on the river to make a straight. Friend goes all in before the last card comes out. I say “must be a peach of a hand, I suppose I’m deranged but guess I’ll just have to call” flip last card and it’s an ace. He had pocket queens to make 3 of a kind. I threw the ace high straight down and said “well ain’t that a daisy”
He was a little upset but laughed and told me that played out perfectly to use that scene

It's maybe the best cast film of the last 30 years.
For a Western film, it was absolutely loaded. As much as Unforgiven was supposed to be the epitaph on the Western genre, Tombstone was probably the greatest homage the genre could be given.
I think you would have to go back to A Bridge Too Far to find as much star power/great actors packed into a single film.

It's crazy how much more entertaining this one is compared to "Wyatt Earp." The only thing the Costner movie had that this one didn't was a little nudity.
The problem with WE was tone. It was way too serious. No fun elements. Some of the things it did well - it did not lack for talent either. Lawrence Kasdan is as talented a cat you will find in Hollywood.
Quaid's Doc Holliday was (obviously different from Kilmer's) excellent and there were impressive performances from most of the supporting cast. The females (Delaney excepted) in WE were all very strongly cast compared to their Tombstone counterparts.
Costner was just weak in the lead. And a meddler. Kasdan's rambling, meandering story was better suited for a mini-series (which it was intended to be until Costner flipped from Tombstone to WE, somewhat ironically he was meddling over there, by reports, as well.)
Weak lead and a story that can't stay focused is a recipe for a big budget disaster.
